Tip: Categorizing images
[edit]
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.
[[Category:Category name]]
For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:
[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]
This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.--DMacks (talk) 03:08, 7 June 2020 (UTC)
Missing H atoms on OH groups
[edit]Thanks for all the nice chemical-structures in high-quality format! And thanks for adding categories to your recent uploads. Looking at File:Ablukast.svg, you have a single-bonded "O" on the right edge that should be an "OH", and likewise the O attached to the top of the left-hand ring. Similar problem on the lower two carboxyls of File:Gadoversetamide.svg and the two hydroxyls of File:6ß-Naltrexol-d4.svg. DMacks (talk) 06:41, 9 June 2020 (UTC)
- Thanks. The "hide implicit hydrogens" setting on ChemDraw must've been toggled on for some reason. I'll go back through my uploads and check. Bait30 (talk) 16:42, 9 June 2020 (UTC)
- ChemDraw sure has some weird effects for me too sometimes! DMacks (talk) 03:57, 10 June 2020 (UTC)
