ANI notice
[edit]Hello. This message is being sent to inform you that there is currently a discussion at Commons:Administrators'_noticeboard/User_problems#Massira_persistently_changing_stable_maps. This is in relation to an issue with which you may have been involved. Thank you. M.Bitton (talk) 22:01, 10 March 2021 (UTC)
western Sahara
[edit]The description has been modified to be more accurate. Similarly, the sovereignty of Morocco in Western Sahara has not been officially recognized by the United Nations, and it has been changed to a more neutral description. — Preceding unsigned comment was added by 5.188.33.40 (talk) 02:11, 11 March 2021 (UTC)
- That is correct, the UN does not recognize sovereignty of either Morocco or the Polisario over the Western Sahara region. Changing the description seems fair, I can work with that. Best Al.Massira (talk) 02:21, 11 March 2021 (UTC)
map
[edit]If you are interested in Sahara, this map has some problems with the actual borders of Morocco and the actual borders of some other countries (such as India), which can be edited. — Preceding unsigned comment was added by 5.188.33.40 (talk) 03:45, 11 March 2021 (UTC)
- Hi and thank you for showing me this. Yes, I do see the very clear problematic border of Morocco and straight line cutting across between the North and South, as well as possibly the issue with India's borders too (I'm guessing Jammu/Kashmir, some of which is administered by Pakistan, some by administered by India, and a small portion of it occupied by China. If not, it would be great if you could clarify a bit more). Thank you for sharing that file with me but when I clicked on it, I saw that a user who opened a currently active ongoing report on me, "M.Bitton", has interacted with that file in the past, so they are most likely keeping a very close eye on it. It also looks like they got into an edit war with EdDakhla (who is now blocked) over that same problematic border on Morocco you are referring to, they insisted that there should be a solid border through the territories in brown, which are controlled by the same country. My theory is that they are monitoring any maps of Morocco and Western Sahara, ready to pounce to revert it if they disagree with how the map looks (it could explain why how quickly they were able to revert some of my edits within hours of me doing them, there's no way they could've done so if it didn't pop up in their radar), and they are most likely monitoring my every move too. So for the time being, I'll keep my distance from that map, at least until the report is closed as they will almost certainly find away to use it against me if I changed it or uploaded a new one minus the unnecessary borders. But I will certainly consider having a look at it in the future. And yes, I have some interest in the Sahara conflict/issue, so if you see anything relating to the topic (or just Morocco in general), feel free to give me a holler. Thanks again. File:Morocco-CIA WFB Map 2021.png seems to be free (or it would be proposed for deletion), but it was identified as having a wrong license. Usually, it is because a public domain image is tagged with a free license, or because the stated source or other information is not sufficient to prove the selected tag is correct. Please verify that you applied the correct license tag for this file. If you believe this file has the correct license, please explain why on the file discussion page.

- Hello, @Nat: , yes I was thinking those new files I uploaded that you mentioned might have the wrong license. However, since I'm relatively new to this, that would explain why I did not know what would be correct license type for it would be. However, feel free to make any changes to the license or anything else in order for it to fit within Wikimedia's guidelines. Best. Al.Massira (talk) 13:30, 11 March 2021 (UTC)

[edit]This file may be deleted. |
A file that you have uploaded to Wikimedia Commons, File:MoroccoOMC.png, is a derivative work, containing an "image within an image". Examples of such works would include a photograph of a sculpture, a scan of a magazine cover, or a map that has been altered from the original. In each of these cases, the rights of the creator of the original must be considered, as well as those of the creator of the derivative work.
While the description page states who made this derivative work, it currently doesn't specify who created the original work, so the overall copyright status is unclear. If you did not create the original work depicted in this image, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. Please edit the file description and add the missing information, or the file may be deleted. If you created the original content yourself, enter this information as the source. If someone else created the content, the source should be the address to the web page where you found it, the name and ISBN of the book you scanned it from, or similar. You should also name the author, provide verifiable information to show that the content is in the public domain or has been published under a free license by its author, and add an appropriate template identifying the public domain or licensing status, if you have not already done so. Please add the required information for this and other files you have uploaded before adding more files. If you need assistance, please ask at the help desk. Thank you! |
