Deletion

Sorry ABF, I read it all and really didn't understand it. Just now I've gone over it, and nonetheless I don't understand why it asks me to nfill in a page with the same info I just put there. I'm sorry to bother you, but I don't know what's missing. --Espencat (talk) 12:18, 4 September 2008 (UTC)

Thats the problem. You should not write the same information down at two places. Try to use the "Request for deletion" buttom in the sidebar down on the left side (works only if you're on an Image-page). abf /talk to me/ 12:21, 4 September 2008 (UTC)

Thanks ABF! --Espencat (talk) 23:56, 4 September 2008 (UTC)

subst'ing personal license templates

Is there a way to do this via bot for the hundreds if not thousands I already did? --BrokenSphere 18:59, 5 September 2008 (UTC)

Yeah, try out COM:AWB. abf /talk to me/ 19:00, 5 September 2008 (UTC)

Hello. Recently you closed the deletion request of this image. The reason given to keep the file is that superseded images do not get deleted. Well, the thing is that this blurred picture is not a superseded image, since was uploaded to Commons later than the clearer one (I forgot to mention this point in the deletion request).

IMHO this file just should not have been uploaded. In fact, on January this exact reproduction of the painting (with a different name) was deleted from Commons. Please see its deletion request. I can’t figure out what could it be useful for now.

Thanks for your attention. J.M.Domingo (talk) 22:12, 5 September 2008 (UTC)

redirect between namespaces

do not redirect between namespaces. Thanks, abf /talk to me/ 15:05, 9 September 2008 (UTC)

Why not? I have not seen a policy against it, and in this case, the article was just a gallery of images that serves the same purpose as the category. --rogerd (talk) 00:41, 10 September 2008 (UTC)
its on all wikis. There should not be any redirects between namespaces. abf /talk to me/ 11:42, 10 September 2008 (UTC)
ok, please direct me to this policy. I couldn't easily find it. I did find en:Wikipedia:Cross-namespace redirects in en, but it seems to just be an essay, not a policy. As a rule, when I point out something like this to another editor, I don't just say "do not" do something or "there should not be any" something, but I usually cite the relevant policy. Perhaps you should do this, too. --rogerd (talk) 03:17, 11 September 2008 (UTC)
If I had a link in mind for any word I sayd I would have no more space for other things in my brain. abf /talk to me/ 16:58, 11 September 2008 (UTC)
How would I know if this is the policy if you don't show me the policy? I could make up anything I want and tell that to a user and say "this is the law". That doesn't work. I need for you show me where redirecting from an article to a category violates policy. I can't and won't just take your word for it. The Bokeh article serves no good purpose since it is merely and subset of Category:Bokeh that has to be maintained separately. --rogerd (talk) 19:01, 11 September 2008 (UTC)
Then do whatever or ask someone else, I cant link anything to you, but I know how it is. abf /talk to me/ 11:26, 12 September 2008 (UTC)

naming scheme

I am following a naming scheme for paintings, see here Image:Juan de Flandes 001.jpg and Image:Juan de Flandes 002.jpg. Joan the Mad was Castilian, "Jeanne la Folle" is French. Why is the file named in French? Gryffindor (talk) 18:18, 11 September 2008 (UTC)

Answered on your talk. abf /talk to me/ 11:26, 12 September 2008 (UTC)
Hi there. Again, I am just following the naming pattern established of the 10,000 images by the Yorck Project. It makes a neat order and if you see the category here for example Category:Paintings by Andreas Möller in the Kunsthistorisches Museum you will see what I mean. Gryffindor (talk) 19:25, 12 September 2008 (UTC)
I'd rather see the names of the women when I glance at that category. Haukurth (talk) 19:58, 12 September 2008 (UTC)
But doesnt our naming policy tell that there will have to be the a short DESCRIPTION in the name? The order in the category does not borther me. abf /talk to me/ 08:24, 13 September 2008 (UTC)

Question

Il faudra qu'on me l'explique.--Bertrand GRONDIN (talk) 12:42, 15 September 2008 (UTC)

Merci

Your automated comment about Image:Staffordshire_terrier_mix.jpg

Dude, you should have PD-self exceptions to this bot, because that in itself says that "I created the content". I really think you should revert all tagging until you get this straightened out. I would hate to see content deleted because it wasn't tagged for your bot to be able to read it. Bastique demandez 17:44, 15 September 2008 (UTC)

Hehe, I did not use a bot in that case. Please simply add 'self-made' or better a {{Information}} regards, abf /talk to me/ 17:46, 15 September 2008 (UTC)

Which content has been deleted? Or is this just an automated warning? All images uploaded in the past 2 days contains CC SA 3.0 license and link to license on our ESO pages. I understand this should have resolved any issues concerning the copyright status of the images. Please give a specific example as others have done so any problem can be resolved Lars Lindberg Christensen (talk) 15:25, 17 September 2008 (UTC)

DELETION OF IMAGE

In the past days I've uploaded an image called " adaneivo_logo.png" wich has been deleted due to copyright infringement, wich is not, cos i own the image and the same it's under a creative commons license ( Creative commons 2, Chile) wich you can actually check at www.adaneivo.cl.nu and/or http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nd/2.0/cl/

--Totorobeckham (talk) 21:56, 17 September 2008 (UTC)Totorobeckham

"tribución-No Comercial-Sin Derivadas 2.0 Chile License" Is incompatible with commons because it does not allow
  • a.)commercial use
  • b.)derivative works

Regards, abf /talk to me/ 06:56, 18 September 2008 (UTC)

It doesn't allows derivate works or commercial use because it's a design of my own, i created it and i don't oppose for people to use it freely, but if they plan to make money or transform the design so they can claim it theirs, i can not support that as a designer.--Totorobeckham (talk) 16:11, 18 September 2008 (UTC)Totorobeckham

Yeah, and thats exactly what commons does NOT allow. I am sorry. abf /talk to me/ 16:13, 18 September 2008 (UTC)

I'd make a mistake" - even if that means to me "I would make a mistake"

Thank for the deletion of « Image:Reims - Caserne Neufchatel - quartier des Hussards.jpg » Definetly, I made a mistake and not I would make a mistake. I would make a mistake If I would test the administration capability but It is not the case and my purpose (joke).

I have a question. Yes it is scanned from a old postcard( year 1900) but the author is dead since more 70 years that means It is public domain copyright status;

Let me know if I am wrong

Kind Regards --Thcollet (talk) 12:12, 18 September 2008 (UTC)

Sorry for my deletion comment, it was a joke of me.
It depends on the country you live in. Please ask at the Commons:Help desk or loock at COM:L. Regards, abf /talk to me/ 13:12, 18 September 2008 (UTC)

Athletes from Argentina

Dear ABF, Earlier today I tried to start the new category:Athletes from Argentina as 56th subcategory of the category:Athletes by country. I found at least 4 images that fit into this category, so that's why. However, you removed it immediately, because this page should be 'out of project scope'. I wonder why. There are subcategories which contain less images than the four I tried to categorize this time. Can you please explain? Thanks in advance.--Piet.Wijker (talk) 15:52, 18 September 2008 (UTC)

You created a gallery without images, not a category thats it ;) Please read COM:PS Regards, abf /talk to me/ 15:55, 18 September 2008 (UTC)
I tried to read COM:PS, but didn't find any part stating that you have to categorize images first, before you can start to create the category itself they belong to. Thought the other way around, namely creating the category first and categorizing the images afterwards. If you had given me five minutes more, it would have been fixed. Meanwhile there are, as I said before, four images that have been categorized as 'Athletes from Argentina' by me. So, what is the next step? Can I once more try to start the category now? Please let me know.--Piet.Wijker (talk) 18:21, 18 September 2008 (UTC)
No! Thats not the point! You tryed the wrong namespace! You used the gallery namespace instead of the Category namespace. So try again, if you make a mistake again there will be someone telling you :) Best regards, abf /talk to me/ 18:23, 18 September 2008 (UTC)

Unknown as of ...

Hallo ABF, du hast gestern einige Wartungskategorien wie Category:Unknown as of 19 September 2008 (usw.) gelöscht, da sie leer waren.

Oh! Verdammt! Ich hab mich im Monat vertan! Danke Vielmals und entshculdigung! abf /talk to me/ 17:40, 18 September 2008 (UTC)

I don't see any debate about this image in its "archive". I was invited to take part in a discussion on the "proposed" deletion of the image by Mutter Erde only to find that the image had already been deleted by you. Someone needs to pay attention because this procedure quite obviously does not work!! ciao Rotational (talk) 15:49, 18 September 2008 (UTC)

They where obyiously not taken by you, so they did not fit the given information and our license-policy. abf /talk to me/ 15:55, 18 September 2008 (UTC)
I never claimed to have taken them - this is pure fantasy on your part. But that is not what the message above is about - please read it again and try to absorb the gist of it. ciao Rotational (talk) 06:09, 19 September 2008 (UTC)
Okay, you did not claim self-made. But the work WAS NOT made by you. So you're not able to give a license for it. The content of the Image shurely is PD-old, but not the Image. And reproducions are only free if I remember well if its a two-dimensional-artwork. abf /talk to me/ 11:46, 19 September 2008 (UTC)

So why did you stste that I claimed to have taken the images? Also, you still haven't explained why you deleted the images in such a hurry and never gave me the opportunity of discussing them. You seem to be quite confused..... ciao Rotational (talk) 14:14, 19 September 2008 (UTC)

First, I deleted them because they where obviously not self-made, and there was no permission, so they where copyvios to me. Second, I sayd you claimed self-made because I mixed up two cases. Third I am not confused. Regards, abf /talk to me/ 14:32, 19 September 2008 (UTC)

There certainly seems to be a problem in getting relevant information from you.

  1. Do you delete all files not self-made immediately?
  2. Why does the procedure invite users to take part in discussions about deletion, yet give them no period of grace in which to do so?

Please answer these questions. ciao Rotational (talk) 06:29, 20 September 2008 (UTC)

If this are the last questions, okay, I'll answer them.
  1. No, only if there is no notice about a permission
  2. I yet told the wrong progress was chosen. You'd have got {{Copyvionote}} instead of {{Idw}}.

Tagebau Nochten

Schönen rest-Sonntag wünscht, abf /talk to me/ 12:48, 21 September 2008 (UTC)
Will sagen man kommt direkt zu Hauptseite.

<gallery> Image:... Image:... ... </gallery> anlegen. Viele Grüße, abf /talk to me/ 14:54, 21 September 2008 (UTC)

Danke SPBer (talk) 15:57, 21 September 2008 (UTC)
