Stamps of Bulgaria
[edit]Hi. I noticed you created a bunch of categories for stamps of Bulgaria by year that only contain 1 stamp. Not to say it's necessarily wrong depending on the circumstances, but it's usually better not to create a year category for something like that if it's only to contain a single images. Otherwise, it kind of defeats the purpose of having a category for "stamps" (there's a reason it's a plural) and makes it harder for people find what they are looking for. Plus, it's just a pain in the ass to maintain. Really, the point in categories is to organize multiple files related to the same topic, not just be places to store individual images. Again, that's "stamps" is plural. It also causes the "by year" navigation template to have a ton of red links, which is pretty useless. A better way to do it is to create "stamps by century" categories. Thanks. Adamant1 (talk) 03:11, 23 April 2023 (UTC)
- Hi.
- In the past I thinks like you, but with your access causes the navigation in stamps by year by country very worthless. I saw it especially at the British Empire stamps categories. After I split them to years, its category of stamps by year becomes valuable.
- Have a good day. אוריאל כ (talk) 03:36, 23 April 2023 (UTC)
- What's worthless is having a "by year" navigation template where 8 out of 10 of the years are red links and when someone clicks on of the two blue linked categories to images of "stamps" they find a single image. I've spent plenty of time navigating through, organizing, and viewing images of stamps and that's just a fact. Not that it's something I feel like running into problems over, but it would be good if you were at least willing to meet me half way on it and not create needless stamp categories for single images. Otherwise, I can guarantee it will just cause issues. Really it already does with the mostly red linked navigation templates, which I'm probably going to remove from the categories when I have the time. Thanks. BTW, even if I agreed with your way of doing things, the proper name of the categories for postage stamps is "postage stamps", not "stamps." So your creating needless work for other people regardless. --Adamant1 (talk) 03:45, 23 April 2023 (UTC)
- Comment I can't help but notice that your not creating categories named "postage stamp" like I asked. Can you please do it that so there isn't just more work later on when the categories need to inevitably need to be renamed and deleted? Thanks. --Adamant1 (talk) 09:13, 28 May 2023 (UTC)
- Hello.
- Most of the categories before I started were without the word "postage".
- It is not likely to change all categories.
- I just joined the existing convention. אוריאל כ (talk) 10:40, 28 May 2023 (UTC)
- I've been working to rename them for a while now and they will all be changed eventually. There's a lot that still needs to be changed, but that isn't helped if you continue to use the word "postage" instead of "postage stamp." Complaining that they aren't all going to be changed while your actively doing things to make it so they won't be isn't a way to deal with the problem. That said, I don't really care about the categories you've created at this point, but why not at least just meet me half and name them "postage stamp" going forward? I don't really get why it matters or why you'd care about it anyway. Why is it that big of a deal to add one more word to the name of the category in-order to save a lot more work later? This is a group project. Your not the only one working on stamps and sometimes you have to work with other people, which often involves compromise for the better good. So why not just name the categories "postage stamp" instead of making an issue out of it? --Adamant1 (talk) 11:37, 28 May 2023 (UTC)
Stamps of Botswana by year has been listed at Commons:Categories for discussion so that the community can discuss ways in which it should be changed. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry. If you created this category, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for discussion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it. If the category is up for deletion because it has been superseded, consider the notion that although the category may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new category. In all cases, please do not take the category discussion personally. It is never intended as such. Thank you! |

Hi, These are wrong after 1870. Do not create such categories. In addition, French stamps after 1952 are usually not free, so it is useless to create such categories. Thanks, Yann (talk) 13:36, 2 August 2023 (UTC)
Do not revert me. These are not useful, and IMO borderline vandalism. Yann (talk) 16:10, 2 August 2023 (UTC)
Recreation of stamps by year categories that were previously deleted
[edit]Stop creating and/or recreating year categories for countries and years where the stamps are copyright and we don't have multiple images to populate the categories with. You were already told not to do it because its useless. Get the hint. Adamant1 (talk) 21:28, 14 August 2023 (UTC)

Request about marking empty categories for deletion
[edit]In the future, if you want to get rid of a category and believe it is uncontroversial, please mark it with {{speedy|C2}} instead of just blanking it. It makes it a lot easier for admins to find and delete. Thanks in advance. - Jmabel ! talk 00:00, 26 September 2023 (UTC)
- Please. Came up again for Category:Sukhoi Su-76 on stamps. - Jmabel ! talk 00:37, 24 May 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks for the comment. אוריאל כ (talk) 03:55, 24 May 2024 (UTC)

"Stamps" versus "postage stamps" again
[edit]Hi. I couldn't help noticing that your still creating categories for named "stamps" for images that are clearly of postage stamps. I seem to remember asking you not to do that twice already. Please get the point and stop creating "stamp" categories for images of postage stamps. As a side to that, you were blocked in August of 2013 for crating categories for non-free content after multiple warnings. Yet you appear to still be doing per Category:2022 stamps of Australia, which was created in April of this year and I'm sure I could find more recent examples if I put the time into looking. Regardless, you've already been told multiple times not to create categories for non-free content. I shouldn't have to keep telling you. So please get the point and stop doing it. I'd hate for you to be blocked longer just because you aren't willing to get the point. Adamant1 (talk) 02:44, 20 September 2024 (UTC)
