Hey there

Just noting (since you deleted the last one) There's loads of copies of the Doug Flag/Cascadian flag up on commons, including a rasterization of the one you deleted that's been on XfD for months without closing ( Commons:Deletion requests/File:Doug Flag.png ). The flag is one people are clearly passionate about but is a relatively recent invention, with a restrictive copyright and its owner expressly requires permission to use. It's not at all something acceptable for Commons, local wikis that allow fair use need to have local copies with a fair use rationale. --50.234.188.27 13:03, 8 July 2023 (UTC)

Remove the photo

After posting a photo on Wikicommons, the person in the photo asked me to remove the photo, they don't like the shot. I have reported this photo for removal but it has not been removed. Transliteration of Ukrainian given names and surnames

Hi! For the convenience of the reader, if there are I am writing several main variants of transliteration of Ukrainian given names (f.e. like here) and surnames (f.e. like here); as far as I can see, there are no transliteration options in the table from Wikidata, and not everyone may have time to look for this information on Wikidata . However, @Микола Василечко: thinks otherwise (as far as I understand this edit). Please tell me if the rules of Wikimedia Commons govern cases of transliteration of Ukrainian surnames and, if possible, your personal opinion. Thanks. Бучач-Львів (talk) 06:55, 22 August 2023 (UTC)

Free licenses are irrevocable. Nevertheless, Commons accepts author's request as reason for deletion during first week after uploading. Here 7 years have passed. In addition, this was not the first time, when Samral nominated the file for deletion, (s)he did it in May as well and it was declined. Samral is disruptive. Hey man I don't know if you are new here, but that file was approriately assigned with {pd-logo} license box which identified the file as "This logo image consists only of simple geometric shapes or text. It does not meet the threshold of originality needed for copyright protection, and is therefore in the public domain." If you think this file is inapproriately licensed and should be removed, please do a formal nomination for deletion. Besides that, users will got be banned/blocked by just a single or a few violations that you can't prove that they intended to do that or the violations are not too serious (copyright concerns lead to file deletion is relatively common on Wikipedia Commons). Version hiding

Hi Taivo. Would you be able to restore all previous version history (except for 14:18, 13 February 2020) for Neville-Chamberlain.jpg, while hiding the files themselves, as the version history appeared before Mdaniels5757 deleted that file yesterday? Mdaniels5757 says that he gets an error while trying to do so, so I'm not sure if there was anything you were able to do back in 2020 that avoided such a problem? Ich protestiere gegen die speedy-Löschung der Kategorie Fahrradstraße in Berlin. Sie war nicht leer. Ich habe sie im Februar angelegt und sie enthielt seit Februar die Kategorie "Diagonale Poller Berlin 2023-02‎‎" in der sich ausschließlich Bilder einer Fahrradstraße in Berlin befinden, was nun leider niemand mehr finden kann, weil die Inormation durch die Löschung der Kategorie ersatzlos entfernt wurde. Image license

I wonder if you can help me with this image File:1893-S Morgan.jpg: it appears to be of the 1893-S MS-67 Morgan dollar which was photographed by PCGS. So the license is not correct (image is not from US Mint) and the image should be deleted as it is the work of the grading company Professional Coin Grading Service. i am not familiar with deletions on commons. The Hogwarts Legacy case

Hi Taivo, I think I should point you to this article in German Wikipedia's "Kurier" (similar to English Wikipedia's Signpost) where I discuss surprising free licenses by big media companies in general, and the recent "Hogwarts Legacy" case in particular, where you decided to keep the files. I'm doing so from my point of view, which you of course know from the deletion discussion; that is, I would have deleted the files because I still don't think that the license is plausible. Ultimately, however, I concede that "the processing admin" (that is: you) has the superficial facts on his side, as we can't deny that the video is licensed under CC-BY on YouTube and is posted on an official Warner Brothers channel. So, my conclusion (in the Kurier article as well) is that we have to leave it at that unless we receive a statement to the contrary by Warner (as we did in the Ubisoft case), but personally, I remain incredulous, and would advise not to take such licenses at YouTube at face value.
