Milestone 1 - Initiation & Discovery, June
- Appoint technical lead and copyright researcher for the project
- Flickr and Wikimedia community engagement:
- Make an announcement to Flickr Foundation list, a Meta page, and a Diff post;
- consult with volunteer developers of Flickr2Commons (project page, tool); and
- establish collaboration the with Commons Photographers User Group
- Evaluate the user interface of Flickr2Commons
- Clone Flickr2Commons tool, review code, and evaluate hosting options
- Review image rights options and investigate reported license laundering issues (known as 'Flickr washing')
Milestone 2 - Design & Definition, July to August
- Produce and engage the community around:
- an analysis of photo reuse
- the rationale for any licensing or permission updates
- sketches of UI improvements; and
- feature prioritization
Milestone 3 - Develop, July to October
- Produce a first version of Flickypedia,with at least one new feature. Potential features already identified include:
- check for possible duplicates;
- integrate structured data into publishing flow; and
- provide interaction metrics.
Milestone 4 - Deliver & Refine, November to December
- Respond to the first round of user feedback through a second release of Flickypedia.
- Document Flickypedia on Wikimedia's Toolhub.
- Consult developers and users of the Flickr2Commons tool on potential deprecation of that tool.
- Invite the 100 cultural organizations that are part of the Flickr Commons program to use Flickypedia.
