Event places

The claim that the places not commonly called venues can be also included in the venues category, is merely an excuse for a flawed design of the category scheme. Such claims do not prevent the creation of a generic category (parent category) called Event spaces, which is commonly used notion / expression, already.

On the performance-related category-hierarchy, the Performance spaces is designated as a subcategory of ~~performance venues~~ Entertainment venues, that is not the universally acceptable definition, but rationalized by the performer-centric view point on which they tends to think the performance venues as the first class, and the other generic places as the exceptional "venues". The lesson to be learned from this example is that the parent-child relationship of a hierarchy cannot be defined uniquely and absolutely, but rather that the parent-child relationship can also change depending on the viewpoint. If we are to obtain as neutral a representation as possible, we should not emphasize hierarchical relationships as in a tree structure, but adopt a structure that flexibly represents arbitrary connections between concepts and categories, such as the relational algebra of an RDB or the synaptic connections of a deep neural net.

At a time when most popular music was performed in concert halls
by professional musicians, the portable, self-playing barrel organ
gave people the opportunity to listen to music and—for those
without training—to play it. The Italian organ builde Giovanni
Bcigalupo, who immigrated to Germany in 1873, manufactured
this particular organ sometime around 1880 in Berlin. His family
continued to produce such instruments in their Prenzlauer Berg
factory for over a century, closing it in 1977.

This “revival” harpsichord was custom-made by renowned
German builder Kurt Wittmayer for Canadian harpsichordist
Greta Kraus. A native of Austria, Kraus immigrated to Canada in
1938—where she taught at the Royal Conservatory of Music and
was a founder of the Toronto Baroque Ensemble. She also helped
popularize the revival harpsichord, a recreation of earlier historical
instruments that employed early 20th-century piano-building
techniques and materials.

Considered an early ancestor of the piano, the clavichord began to
fall out of favour around 1700—after the emergence of the more
mechanically efficient piano. The clavichord seen here, however, was
manufactured much later by the French-English instrument builder
Arnold Dolmetsch. Dolmetsch was one of the key figures in the
20th-century revival of early music and a pioneer in reconstructing
instruments using historical designs. He was also single-handedly
responsible for making the recorder—an instrument little used after
the renaissance era—the entry level learning tool for amateurs.

JIMMIE VAUGHAN'S 1963 FENDER STRATOCASTER
The older brother of Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimmie Vaughan was
a key member of the Fabulous Thunderbirds, the group that
did much to ignite the 1980s blues renaissance. Vaughan's
deep knowledge of the blues, particularly Texas blues, and
his meticulously crafted guitar riffs helped make signature
Thunderbirds' songs such as “Tuff Enuff” and “Wrap It Up” ideal
examples of modern blues.

Vaughan played this 1963 Fender Stratocaster during much of his
tenure with the Fabulous Thunderbirds.

Ed King joined Lynyrd Skynyrd shortly before the band recorded
its debut album. He had been a member of Strawberry Alarm
Clock, known for the 1967 hit “Incense and Peppermints.” King
composed and recorded “Sweet Home Alabama,” a signature
song for Skynyrd, on this guitar. He left the band in 1975 and re-
joined the reconstituted band from 1987 through 1996.
