Usage
{{Category redirect |1= |reason= }}
In biology:
- Please use {{Synonym taxon category redirect}} to redirect a taxon to a synonym
- Please use {{Invalid taxon category redirect}} to redirect an invalid taxon to its valid equivalent
- Please use {{Monotypic taxon category redirect}} to redirect a monotypic taxon to its unique subtaxon (like redirect genus cat to its unique species)
Note: if you want to edit this template, first try your modifications on {{Category redirect/sandbox}}.You can then test your edits in {{Category redirect/testcases}}.
When the new version is ready, ask an administrator to move it to the main template. You can do that by putting a {{Edit request}} in the template talk page and explaining that the admin just needs to copy the sandbox code into the main template.
Template parameters
- TemplateData
TemplateData is a way to store information about template parameters (the description of those and of the whole template) for both humans and machines. It is used by VisualEditor and possibly other tools like Upload Wizard.
Existing template documentation
At Wikimedia Commons, it is recommended to use {{TemplateBox}} with either useTemplateData=1
or useTemplateData=only
on the /doc
subpage and transcluding it with {{Documentation}} into the template. <nowiki>
-tags can be wrapped around the arguments, if required, to avoid templates being expanded.
Newly created template documentation and imports
Another option, especially for imported templates, or for users with JSON experience, is placing raw <templatedata>
-tags into the Wikitext of the template, as described in various Wikipediae.
