Frederick William III (de:Friedrich Wilhelm III., August 3 1770 – June 7 1840) was king of Prussia from 1797 to 1840. The son of King Frederick William II of Prussia married Louise of Mecklenburg-Strelitz, a princess noted for her beauty. His eldest son, Frederick William IV of Prussia, succeeded him in 1840.
