Protection discussion for this map
[edit]2015
[edit]A discussion around protection and other options for attaining future consensus for changes and approach, can be found at Commons:Administrators' noticeboard/Blocks and protections#File:Iraq war map.png (feel free to update the link if the discussion moves to the AN archive pages later). 2016
[edit]See new thread at Commons:Administrators' noticeboard/Blocks and protections#Iraq war map.png. --Fæ (talk) 15:40, 16 May 2016 (UTC)
- My map is correct.
- ISIS is in controll of 3 Villages north of Ramadi:
- FSA is in control of Al-Walid border crossing: https://www.almasdarnews.com/article/rebels-capture-ira/
- The MAP/PNG should be protected.
- NOTE: Almasdarnews is a pro iraqi gov. source.

- I have protected the file for two weeks, discussion is encouraged on this very page instead of counterproductive edit warring. I will be following this page and will revert/modify as consensus determines. ~riley (talk) 15:24, 16 May 2016 (UTC)

and this was days after your article about those villages north of Ramadi being captured by ISIS.
Revert this odd version
[edit]Who is the smart guy who left the current version? It's wrong, uneditable and apears in the eyes of hundreds of thousands, why the heck can't normal editors update this map anymore?--Bolter21 (talk) 12:36, 20 May 2016 (UTC)
- @Bolter21: Hello, this file was protected from further overwrites due to upload warring, which is counter-productive. Pinging Bigles, which is the uploader of the current version. ★ Poké95 12:56, 20 May 2016 (UTC)
- This current version is awfull.. needs to be reverted as soos as possible.--Bolter21 (talk) 13:54, 20 May 2016 (UTC)
- What's exactly your problem? Tuz Khormato is controlled by local Turkmen forces (look at the sources at the module page on the english Wikipedia), southeast of Mosul near Gwer was an attack of Daesh against Peshmerga (http://rudaw.net/english/middleeast/iraq/040520161), there are many reports from Iraqi Armed Forces presence in southwestern Erbil governorate.--Ermanarich (talk) 16:02, 20 May 2016 (UTC)
- And Tanf-bordercrossing is controlled by the Free Syrian Army. It's a bit misleading to show them to control area in Iraq, but at least this area is nothing but desert.--Ermanarich (talk) 16:05, 20 May 2016 (UTC)
- Alright.
- This current version is awfull.. needs to be reverted as soos as possible.--Bolter21 (talk) 13:54, 20 May 2016 (UTC)
- The map can't be edited now because of anti-aliasing colors
- Tuz is controlled by local tribesmen but not the region around it.
- There is no connection between mainland of ISIS and Ramadi.
- Syrian Rebels don't controll the Jordanian border, they only control the border crossing, no more than that.
- Iraq freed Ruthbah, Akshat and the nearby Airbase.
- The current version added some important things but also added many odd mistakes and the current version can't be edited..--Bolter21 (talk) 17:05, 20 May 2016 (UTC)
Outdated
[edit]This map is very outdated. FYI. Coltsfan (talk) 16:33, 30 October 2016 (UTC)
PKK Controlled Areas
[edit]Several areas shown on the map as controled by the Kurdistan Regional Government are actually under the control of the PKK and allied militias (Sinjar Resistance Units, ect). This groups hold the town of Sinjar and the surrounding area as well as an area near Qandil. They act in opposition to the KRG.XavierGreen (talk) 17:48, 8 April 2017 (UTC)
ISIS
[edit]Hasn't ISIS been completely expelled from Iraq? (24.205.83.199 19:01, 10 December 2017 (UTC))
Contrast
[edit]I cannot tell the colours apart. Use high contract colours — Preceding unsigned comment was added by 185.75.215.221 (talk) 16:39, 31 January 2019 (UTC)
