Description
Deutsch: Zwei Längsschnitt-Graphiken Wolfegg – Rot a.d. Rot zur Entwicklung des Zungenbeckens des Rheingletschers (Vorlandgletscher Oberschwaben). Die obere Graphik zeigt, wie sich der Eisrand-Stausee ab dem zweiten Vorstoß des Rißzeit-Gletschers darstellt. Das Zungenbecken, in welchem sich Schmelzwässer und auch Sedimente sammelten, ist auf einen tiefen Felshorizont ausgeschürft worden.

Die untere Graphik zeigt, wie die Eismassen bei zweimaligen Vorstößen in der Würm-Eiszeit Endmoränen und erhebliche Sand- und Schottermengen aufgeschüttet haben. Der Eisrand-Stausee, nunmehr an beiden Enden von Endmoränenn gestaut, wurde zum Endmoränen-Stausee. Im Laufe der nacheiszeitlichen Erwärmung verlandete der flache See, weil Gewässerpflanzen immer weiter vordrangen.

English: Two cross section graphics Wolfegg – Rot a.d. Rot of some Glacial series in the Alpine Foreland, showing the movements of glaciers during the Riß glaciation and theWürm glaciation. The upper graphic shows that melting water in front of the advancing or receding glacier terminus was impounded by northern terminal moraines of two ice ages. The rocky floor of the lake was drastically deepened by the second thrust of the Riss glaciation.
The lower graphic shows that two thrusts of the Würm glacier piled up masses of debris as terminal moraines. Enormous amounts of sand and gravel lifted the ground level drastically. From now on the Zungenbecken was barred by southern and northern terminal moraines. With the postglacial temperature rise the flat lake area slowly silted up, as water plants invaded the lake.
