Description
English: Message from Mir Jafar Baghirov (communist leader of the Azerbaijan SSR) to Anastas Ivanovich Mikoyan (USSR People’s Commissariat for Foreign Trade) requesting paper for the publication of pro-Soviet newspapers and an illustrated magazine inside Iranian Azerbaijan, which was called "Southern Azerbaijan". This request was made "in accordance with the recent decision of the CC of the Party".

In accordance with the recent decision of the CC of the Party we have begun publishing in Southern Azerbaijan three daily newspapers and one illustrated magazine. A number of organizational measures are contemplated. We are awaiting good paper from the Narkomvneshtorg to publish the newspapers.

I earnestly request that you give orders to hasten the shipment of paper needed to publish the newspapers and the magazine.

The quarterly requirement in paper is:

for the newspapers ............................................... 29 tons

for No 1 printing paper for the magazine .............. 4.5 tons

covers ................................................................. 1200 pages

lithographic paper for inserting artistic works ....... 1200 pages
