What's a fake! Picture of the Year 2015? The mostly pictures are from 2014, 2013, 2012, 2011, 2010 ... WHAT'S A FAKE! --Bestoernesto (talk) 23:04, 16 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Bestoernesto: Please read COM:POTY - "images featured on Commons (FP) during the year 2015". And please stay mellow. --Steinsplitter (talk) 16:16, 17 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Steinsplitter - I actually thought it was a typo, I've never noticed that before, I assumed the POTY was for the current years .... obviously not . –Davey2010Talk 18:27, 18 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Order and advantages

[edit]

Great selection, congratulations to all the authors. Though, I cannot avoid noticing each time I visit this page, the pictures are displayed in the same order. Doesn't that gives some sort of advantage to the pictures displayed on the first positions? I'm afraid a lot of users use their three votes after watching 5, 10 or 15 pictures. It's true one can change its vote, but I still feel it's disadvantageous for the last pictures. Wouldn’t it be better to display randomly the images? Cheers, --Pedro Felipe (talk) 02:21, 19 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi

Not really - this order is especially for you - I get the pictures in a different order. They are displayed randomly but every user getsa his picturees always in the same order he got them the first time. --Kersti (talk) 10:19, 1 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Context-sensitive confirmation dialog

[edit]

Each time I click Vote, a dialog "You can vote for 3 images" (or something like that) pops up. Would it be more informative for the user if it states "You can vote for 2 more images", "You can vote for 1 more image" etc depending on how many votes remain, since it's tracking how many votes have been cast in order to disable the voting buttons? Still too hard to get to File: page for videos

[edit]

I feel like I say this every year, but I'll say it again: It's too dificult to get to the "File:" page for videos in these PotY galleries. In particular, this year File:Basics of photography – how you learn to shoot better photos.webm is a finalist. How do you get to its "File:" page from the R2/Gallery page? Well (in Firefox 31.3.0 for Linux), you either…

  1. click on the "Info" button, then the "edit description" icon, then get out of the editor by clicking on the "File" tab (or the "Cancel" link); or
  2. click on the "Info" button, then the "Votelist" link, then the "enlarge" icon on the image provided on that page; or
  3. start playing the file (since hovering on it does nothing), then click on "MENU", then follow the linked image title.

None of these options are at all intuitive. By contrast, how do you visit the "File:" page for an image? Just click (assuming Media Viewer preference not enabled) or Ctrl-click on the image, and you're done. How can there be such a huge difference in the steps required to accomplish this basic task for a video vs. an image? - dcljr (talk) 02:45, 24 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
