Translation of sitenotices

[edit]

Sitenotices are included in the items that are to be translated, but how are they translated? When viewing MediaWiki:Sitenotice I see no autotranslate. – Danmichaelo (δ) 18:59, 27 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I support this question! --Kaganer (talk) 22:47, 27 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Dear translators, please post future sitenotice- translations to →MediaWiki:Sitenotice-translation. Please also post them to the according translation page at POTY. We need them also for global banners. They will be set up at Meta-Wiki. Thank you! -- RE rillke questions? 13:31, 28 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Translating

[edit]

Hello / Salam. How can I do to translate the templates in "Pages" section to Malay?. Thank you. - 26 Ramadan (talk) 04:29, 29 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Copy the contents from the /en-subpage (English) to /ms-subpage (Malay) and translate them. For example copy the wikitext of Template:POTY2011/en to Template:POTY2011/ms, translate and save.
An exception are the MediaWiki:-pages that are not JavaScript like MediaWiki:Votelist. There, the English version is located at MediaWiki:Votelist, not at MediaWiki:Votelist/en. But the subpage for Malay is the same: MediaWiki:Votelist/ms. Because you can't edit this page, you have to post the translation to the talk page: MediaWiki talk:Votelist/ms and add {{Edit request}} to make an administrator aware of your translation. -- RE rillke questions? 08:25, 29 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Okay. Thanks for the infos. - 26 Ramadan (talk) 10:05, 29 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Spanish translation doesn't show

[edit]

I've translated a few pages of the 2011 contest, but they don't show up. I've tried this link but everything shows up en English. Am I visiting the wrong link? Or did I foget a step in the translating process? Thanks! --NaBUru38 (talk) 19:10, 29 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I purged the server's cache. If there is a ? in the URL, append &action=purge, if there is no ?, append ?action=purge to the URL and hit enter (e.g. https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Picture_of_the_Year/2011?uselang=es&action=purge). -- RE rillke questions? 19:33, 29 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, I did that with the new translations. Thanks! -- NaBUru38 (talk) 17:31, 30 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Missing languages

[edit]

I come here to help translating into Esperanto but it is not showing. Is it okay to add a column to the table and just start working? -- Tuválkin 20:11, 29 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Of course. -- RE rillke questions? 06:13, 30 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Unable to translate

[edit]

I tried to translate this page: http://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Commons:Picture_of_the_Year/2011/Galleries/ml&action=edit, but blocked by abuse filter! Matching black list entry: Commons:Picture of the Year\/2011\/Galleries\/.* <noedit> # POTY 2011 protect galleries--Praveen:talk 02:00, 5 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

It's protected by the title blacklist to avoid voting manipulation. It's not feasible to protect each single POTY-page, that's why we use the title blacklist.
How to deal with protected pages, if you want that the content will be created or changed?
  1. Put the content that should be added to the page on the associated talk page.
  2. Add {{Edit request}} to make administrators aware of the request.
  3. (not the case here, but in general) If it is not possible to add it to the talk page, put it into our Sandbox, save the permanent link (tool-box) and request the edit at COM:AN/B.
Thanks for your interest in translating POTY. I regret the inconvenience.
Kind regards -- RE rillke questions? 10:13, 5 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Qualification Criteria

[edit]

I wanna find out how a picture submitted qualifies to participate in the Picture of the Year competition?

Please help me out!

--Nkansahrexford (talk) 13:51, 6 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

How is this question related to the translation of the contest? (see heading of the page)
see Commons:Picture of the Year/2011/Eligibility. Your picture has to become a COM:FP the year before.
