Commons talk:Deletion requests/Files uploaded by Dvornicsek
Hi!
All my uploaded photos are in deletion request. I licenced and categorised them to my best knowledge, but I must have done something wrong. Would someone please inform me what went wrong and how I could correct it?
Thank you! Dvornicsek (talk) 00:33, 25 August 2009 (UTC)
I would apprecaite some help, please!
[edit]I have two questions:
There seems to be some problem with my photos.
1. How do I prove that I am a copyright holder? 2. If I am not the legitimate copyright holder, how do I get their approval? An e-mail from the authors would be ok? How does it work with wikipedia?
I am desperately trying to finish my article! I read every information regarding uploading and licencing, BUT this is my first article and I need help.
So somebody out there, plese respond!
Thank you! Dvornicsek (talk) 01:47, 25 August 2009 (UTC)
- Let's start by defining the terms. Simply put, the author of a photograph is the person who holds the camera. If you're uploading photos created by someone else, don't label it as "Own work by uploader."
- In most cases, the copyright holder is the same person as the author. There are some exceptions. If you are employing people to take photographs or if they sign a declaration reassigning the copyright to you, you may be the copyright holder without being the author. If you were part of such an arrangement, you would probably know these things. If you are not the copyright holder of the photos that you upload, don't use statements such as "I, the copyright holder..."
- Now, to address your questions:
- If you are the copyright holder, the first thing to do is to straighten out the question marks noted in the deletion request, including the contradictory and inconsistent authorship and copyright information provided. It seems you believe that you are the copyright holder of photos created by other authors. What do you base that claim on?
- If you wish to upload a photo that someone else holds the copyright to, you should follow the procedure described at Commons:OTRS for obtaining and archiving a permission from the copyright holder. Again, when uploading such photos, don't claim that it's your own work or that you are the author or copyright holder.
e-mail permissions
[edit]Hi LX!
Due to misunderstanding, I messed up the work with my photos, and now I am trying to get it right. I'm a first time editor on wikipedia, and although I'm trying real hard, the system seems cnfusing at times. I am slowly getting the permissions from the authors of the photos I would like to use on my page (László Marton), could you please tell me where I could e-mail them? Thank you, Dvornicsek (talk) 12:16, 25 August 2009 (UTC)
to LX!
[edit]Is this the e-mail address?

permissions on the way
[edit]Dear LX!
Thank you for all your valuable information. I already sent the written permissions I got from 3 out of the 4 authors: Victoria Wallace, Michael Levine and Guntar Kravis. The 4th author, Lorenzo Savoini is harder to reach, as far as I know, he is traveling around the world at the moment, but I am hoping he'll grant me the permission in a day or two.
I do understand your concerns regarding my photos. But you have to undersatnd: I'm a first time wikipedia editor. I find the system rather complicated and I'm far from being a technical genius. But I'm doing my best and I'm working really hard to put this article together. And yes, I made some mistakes, with the text as well, but lovely peole helped me, I corrected those errors and now the text is not worst than most of the pages on wikipedia.
I admit that I made mistakes regarding photos as well, but again: I'm a first time wikipedia editor. I find the system rather complicated and I'm far from being a technical genius. But I'm doing my best and I'm working really hard to put this article together.
As you can see I did not want to violate the sistem: once I finally realized what I have to do, I credited authors of the photos (you quoted their names yourself). When I made a mistake, it was an honest misteke, I did NOT intend to mislead anyone.

clearing the confusion regarding photos
[edit]My article is way shorter than what it started out to be, so I am using less images. I thought I had permission already, because most of these pictures were used in a book a wrote a couple of years ago. But now I know assuming that it was a mistake, so I contacted my authors and they are sending me the permissions. I am trying to correct the mistake.
Some of the permissions (standatd wikimedia form) have been already sent to "permissions-commons@wikimedia.org", and Guillaume Piolle already got in touch with me.
Here is a list of images I would like to use:
