- @Spanglishfoods: Hi, and welcome. I am sorry to inform you that you have triggered Special:AbuseFilter/153 by trying to cross-wiki upload a smaller (<50,000 bytes or <2,000,000 pixels) jpg photo as a new user while leaving the summary intact. The photo you tried to upload is smaller, and you indicated it's your own work. Usually when someone uploads a smaller photo, it is a copyright violation taken from the web. If you took the photo yourself, please upload the full-size original of it per COM:HR, including EXIF metadata. If you did not take the photo, please see Commons:Licensing for why we can't accept it as-is, and have the photographer post Commons:Licensing compliant permission for such work on their website or social media presence or send the photo and permission via VRT with a carbon copy to you. If you can't get a compliant license, the photo may still be uploaded to English Wikipedia in compliance with en:WP:F because we don't allow Fair Use here. If you change the summary or use our Upload Wizard instead, you should be able to avoid that filter. — Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me 11:20, 1 January 2022 (UTC)

- @Tribaluxe: Hi, do you have a larger resolution than the photos you're trying to upload? Like look at this log entry for example: 640x480 seems too small for an image taken in 2021, at least according to the description. The filter blocks uploads from the cross-wiki upload tool that are less than 2 megapixels in resolution. It looks like you've successfully uploaded one that is large enough though. Make sure not to downscale your images before uploading; the wiki will do it for you.
If they're not downscaled and they're really in their original resolution, then feel free to ignore what I said and use the Upload Wizard tool instead. That should circumvent the filter. pandakekok9 02:02, 6 January 2022 (UTC)

- @Torrents Rising: Hi, and welcome. I am sorry to inform you that you have triggered Special:AbuseFilter/153 by trying to cross-wiki upload a smaller (<50,000 bytes or <2,000,000 pixels) jpg image as a new user while leaving the summary intact. The image you tried to upload is smaller, and you indicated it's your own work. Usually when someone uploads a smaller image, it is a copyright violation taken from the web. If you made the image yourself, please upload the full-size original of it per COM:HR, including EXIF metadata. If you did not make the image, please see Commons:Licensing for why we can't accept it as-is, and have the image photographer / designer license it on their official website or social media, or send the image and permission via VRT with a carbon copy to you. If you can't get a compliant license, the image may still be uploaded to English Wikipedia in compliance with en:WP:F because we don't allow Fair Use here. - Edit kind: attempt to replace an empty category page with a disambiguation (there are several locations named Jagadishpur/Jagdishpur/Jagadispur/Jagdispur in India and Nepal with lakes, some images were already put in a wrong category)
- Comments: from my point of view, I did nothing special, not included any external spam links or alike, just tried to add a standard disambiguation page. And I never had such a problem before, I'm not a "LTA vandal" (like the filter name suggests). please help and tell what to do (or not to do, in this case). Thanks 79.216.8.244 01:46, 9 January 2022 (UTC)
- 79.216.8.244, you did nothing wrong. A portion of your edit (the "Howrah district" phrase) matched this change to filter #222 by AntiCompositeNumber. I am not familiar enough with the purpose and history of abuse behind this filter to fix it, however, as a temporary workaround, you should be able to make your edit from an established account, rather than from an anonymous account. Perhaps AntiCompositeNumber can tighten up the rules for this filter to make it less likely to trigger a false positive. —RP88 (talk) 02:25, 9 January 2022 (UTC)
- Another recent false positive for filter #222 was the phrase "Wiki refused" in this question that a new editor attempted to post to Commons:Help desk. —RP88 (talk) 02:40, 9 January 2022 (UTC)
- @RP88 I've adjusted the filter to avoid this particular false positive. The COM:HD false positive is unavoidable, unfortunately. I can't say much publicly about that filter, but if you want more information you can email me. I'd caution against revealing which particular words in an edit match a private anti-LTA filter in the future. AntiCompositeNumber (talk) 03:46, 9 January 2022 (UTC)
- @AntiCompositeNumber: Thanks for the fix, I'll be more circumspect in the future. A private inquiry about the rejected Help Desk question was what originally caused me to investigate, whereupon I saw the related report here (the Help Desk has a reasonable interest in not rejecting questions from inexperienced editors). I'll readily admit that I don't know enough about the history of this abuse to necessarily suggest an alternative, but I've made what I think is a conservative edit to the filter. Please feel free to revert my change if you don't think it is a good idea. —RP88 (talk) 04:41, 9 January 2022 (UTC)

If you took the photo yourself, please upload the full-size 7,192 × 4,790 pixels original of it per COM:HR, including EXIF metadata. — Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me 16:04, 14 January 2022 (UTC)

- @Raquel.perez.alvarez: Hola y bienvenido.

- Edit kind: I was trying to include a portrait of the Honourable Adam Crouch to update the wikipedia page and the abuse filter declared the edit to be "unconstructive", proceeding to delete my progress in updating the information. Please note that the photo was a portrait owned by Adam Crouch.

- @Adam S Crouch MP: Hi, and welcome. I am sorry to inform you that you have triggered Special:AbuseFilter/153 by trying to cross-wiki upload smaller (<50,000 bytes or <2,000,000 pixels) jpg photos as a new user while leaving the summary intact, and Special:AbuseFilter/156 by trying to upload smaller (<50,000 bytes) jpg photos as a new user. Each jpg photo you tried to upload is smaller, and you indicated it's your own work. Usually when someone uploads a smaller photo, it is a copyright violation taken from the web. If you took the photos yourself, please upload the full-size originals of them per COM:HR, including EXIF metadata. If you did not take the photos, please see Commons:Licensing for why we can't accept them, and have the photographer(s) license them on their official websites or social media or send the photos and permissions via VRT with carbon copies to you. If you can't get a compliant license, the photos may still be uploaded to English Wikipedia in compliance with en:WP:F because we don't allow Fair Use here. If you change the summary or use our Upload Wizard instead, you should be able to avoid filter 153. Thank you for your service. — Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me 11:40, 31 January 2022 (UTC)
