Rules
[edit]To take part in the Wiki Loves Earth in Australia contest, a submission should:
- Be self-taken
- All entries must be original photographs uploaded by their photographer. Photos uploaded by other than the photographer (even with proper permission according to Wikimedia Commons rules) are not accepted.
- Be self-uploaded during the contest period;
- You may submit photos you have taken in the past. What matters is that photos be uploaded during the contest period.
- Be under a free license;
- Show a protected area: nature reserve/national park etc. or a close-up of species (animal or plant) photographed there;
- An incomplete list of eligible sites is given in our list. Provided your photo has been taken in a protected area it is eligible. Photos of species (animals, plants etc.) taken in an eligible site also qualify if they are properly identified.
- Photos should include coordinates.
- Be at least 2Mpx.This is a minimum threshold: photos of a higher resolution are encouraged.
To win a prize
[edit]- The photograph must contribute to the encyclopaedic content of wikipedia
- A participant should have an activated e-mail address via Preferences of their account.
Your photograph is unlikely/ineligible to win a prize if
[edit]it is an image of
- an animal in a zoo or in any enclosure. Zoos are not protected places. Such photos are ineligible but may be useful to wikipedia..
- an unidentified animal or plant. Images of plants and animals are most useful when identified to species level
- a building. The building may be protected but its image is not eligible in this competition.
- part of a series of near identical photos. The organisers reserve the right to randomly choose just one of such a series to participate in the competition. Please upload the best of your series.
