• Ecological communities throughout Australia are protected under various state and federal acts. See for example,
  • List of endangered ecological communities in NSW and NSW Threatened Species Conservation Act 1995 (TSC Act),
  • List of Commonwealth threatened ecological communities. A photograph is eligible if it can be shown that the place where it was taken was part of a protected ecological community under a state or commonwealth act.
  • List of threatened ecological communities declared by the Commonwealth of Australia
