Commons:Wiki Loves Africa 2023 in South Africa
Wiki Loves Africa is an annual contest where anyone across Africa can contribute media that relates to that year's theme to Wikimedia Commons for use on Wikipedia and other project websites of the Wikimedia Foundation. Wiki Loves Africa encourages participants to contribute media (photographs, video and audio) that illustrate the specific theme for that year. Each year the theme changes. Each year's theme is chosen by the community to be a universal, visually-rich and culturally-specific topics (for example, markets, rites of passage, festivals, public art, cuisine, natural history, urbanity, daily life, notable persons, etc).
You are encouraged to submit any photos of Climate and Weather in South Africa between 1st March to 20 April 2023. By submitting your photos to the competition, you share images of weather and climate themes in Northern Nigeria with the world through Wikimedia Commons.
How to Participate
Are you are in South Africa? find climate and weather features, take a photo, Video (time lapses etc), Audio (sound of the wind, thunderstorm, river etc in an artistic way and upload it to Wikimedia Commons.
Competition rules
Every Entry/Upload should abide by the following rules:
- The participant must have a Wikimedia commons Username. If you do not have one, you can kindly Create an account here.
- The entry must be self taken and self uploaded although it must not be an image taken during the contest period;
- Uploaded during March and April 2023;
- Uploaded process with give permission with a CC BY-SA licenseto re-use the image;
- Use the proper category: Images from Wiki Loves Africa 2023 by Fulfulde Wikimedians Community

- March 1, 2023: launch of international contest
- March 28th, 2023: Photo Event
- April 30th, 2023: Competition closes

There are several prizes up for grabs, both locally and internationally.

- 1st Local Prize - 3000 rands
- 2nd Local Prize - 2000 rands
- 3rd Local Prize - 1500 rands
