Please assign the ability to use it in AWB. I have these rights in the Russian Wikipedia. I need AWB to work in categories. For example, in the Category:20th-century photographs of Russia you need to replace the template {{Countryphotoyear2}} with a more accurate template {{Russiaphotoyear}}. Thank you. I am a support agent and frequently have to cope with lengthy lists of files. Perform batch task works fine if they are uploaded by a single user or are categorized within a common category. However, this is not always the case. In a situation with dozens of files held together only by a list, a performant batch tool is indispensable. – I already had the right to use AWB for commons and used it successfully, but for some reason unknown to me it was withdrawn. I had been a professional software developer for decades and can deal safely with the complexities of that tool. Thank you. Mussklprozz (talk) 10:24, 28 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello I’m applying for AWB tools. The reason is very narrow. I wish to go through Category:Photographs by Sergei Gussev, and move some of the photographs into sub categories. There are existing categories that sort the photographer’s works by location.

I wish to go through the files to sort by Los Angeles and other files. This does ‘’not’’ include uploading any extra files. It is PURELY sorting files. Thank you. Curlyrnd (talk) 00:57, 10 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Curlyrnd: Hi, have you tried Cat-a-lot and VFC? NguoiDungKhongDinhDanh 11:08, 10 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@NguoiDungKhongDinhDanh: , either of them does not seem to have a "skip" option. Curlyrnd (talk) 19:00, 10 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Curlyrnd: That's because you need to choose the files first. NguoiDungKhongDinhDanh 19:12, 10 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
There are A LOT of files and can't ways get everyone right without using the skip function. Curlyrnd (talk) 21:01, 10 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Calm down, I'm just suggesting some other means of automating things that are a lot faster than AWB. That being said, if you still think AWB is better, suit yourself. NguoiDungKhongDinhDanh 21:14, 10 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
sorry, it is just I think I looked at either option, and I felt that I would skip some. Basically, I would change the settings to skip any that does not contain Category:month year in Los Angeles and then add the category. doesn't seem either have that option. Curlyrnd (talk) 21:30, 10 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Most of my work in Commons has been diffusing categories about museum collections which I do through Cat-a-lot, but in the process I've found many files needing replaced license tags (ex. scans of very old PD files tagged as CC-BY-SA 4.0 own works or as PD-old-70 instead of 100). I'd like bot access to streamline these edits. I have plenty of experience using AWB in non-Wikimedia projects. Thank you. YuriNikolai (talk) 23:30, 22 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello @Plozessor. Have you tried using Cat-a-lot for such tasks? rubin16 (talk) 06:58, 26 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, actually I've done exactly that! Found that tool soon after I posted here.
Still, looking for a way to semi-automate removal of parent categories. Something like 'remove all pictures which are in a sub-category of Buildings in Germany from category Buildings in Germany'. With Cat-a-lot, I still need to open every sub-category, select all and then remove the parent category.
Another thing I might want to do is bulk-modification of descriptions. I found lots of pictures with wrong location (like "Mechenried, Planstraße XX, XXXX" when actually the picture shows Planstraße in Kleinmünster, not in Mechenried). Not sure if that would be possible with AWB, basically I'd look for 'take all images in category XXX and replace ABC with DEF in the source'. Plozessor (talk) 07:44, 26 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
