Hello, I have been a user on Commons since June 2005 and have just over 800 edits. I have been an admin on en wiki since April 2005, including several months in 2006 when I requested desysopping due to on-wiki stress. (I was resysopped without an RFA, per the procedure for uncontroversial former admins.) I am currently a "trusted reviewer" for Flickr review. Other than uploads, a major chunk of my edit count comprises setting up most of the substructure of Category:Markets. I take enough CC material from Flickr that I've recently set up a purposed Flickr account, so I don't have to lose my pseudonymity when thanking people or asking if they would mind relicensing an image for use on Commons.

My Flickr review participation, which is lamentably inconsistent despite my best intentions, prompts this request. I was looking at an image in Category:Flickr images needing human review that merited speedying, but was already beyond its seven-day grace period for being without sourcing, and was trying to figure out if it would be excessive to list it for speedy deletion as well, or if I should simply remove the Flickr category and let it be deleted for lack of sourcing. I finally decided that it would be far more efficient if I could delete the image myself. I am also active in several activities on en wiki that would be more efficient with Commons adminship. The first is that I am active on Template:In the news and the ability to protect images here would simplify matters. The other is that I am one of several admins maintaining Mediawiki:Bad image list, which is on rare occasions used as a holding pen for disturbing images uploaded on Commons for vandalism on en wiki while a Commons speedy deletion is sought.

To be honest, I probably will not be a tremendously active Commons admin, but I believe I will be a useful one. Given my comparative lack of experience on Commons, I will take care not to leap into moppage with which I am only passingly familiar without re-reading relevant policy and procedures first. Thank you for your consideration, BanyanTree 13:15, 4 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
