I have been active on Commons for more than two year now, mainly uploading my own photos. I have also uploaded numerous maps, created using GIS and graphics software. I am on the commons mailing list and have my e-mail enabled here. I know some Spanish and some Arabic and have edited on those wikis. On English Wikipedia, I have been an admin (en:Aude) for over a year with little or no controversy there. On enwiki, I have done quite a lot of vandalism patrol, also have helped out with speedy deletions, and have closed some AFDs, IFDs, TFDs, and MFDs. I won't attempt to do anything that I don't 100% understand and know what I'm doing and won't hesitate to ask an other admin for assistance. An incident that prompted my RFA on enwiki, was a major incident of blatant image vandalism on a template widely used on the 2006 Winter Olympics pages. I tried to help fix the situation, but enwiki admin tools would have been helpful at the time. I can't remember if the image was on commons, but think that having admin tools here could also help enormously in swiftly dealing with such urgent vandalism situations.

Recently, on commons, I have been dealing with copyright issues with images I took at the Hockey Hall of Fame of NHL trophies. I have learned a lot from this situation about copyrights, derivative works, freedom of panorama (and variations among different countries), and other issues. I also learned that there is quite a lengthy backlog on Commons:Deletion requests/Older Discussions. Initially, I was frustrated at the notion that I couldn't use photos that I took myself, but now understand the nuances better and am okay with my images being deleted. I attempted to get permission from the NHL to use the images here under GFDL, but unfortunately was not successful. I went back through all these trophy deletion requests and updated my vote, requesting urgent deletion, and left comments on Commons:Administrators' noticeboard/Attention. I don't quite buy reasoning given by others that these trophys are "utility items", "salad bowls", etc. I think the justification for keeping the images is marginal at best and we should go ahead and delete them to be safe and sure. I told the NHL that the images would be deleted ASAP, if they did not grant permission.

It's been a few weeks since I told them that, and these requests are now sitting around in the backlog. It's not a good situation, that we have such a massive backlog with the NHL trophies and numerous other copyright problems and images sitting there. I looked at Commons:Deletion_requests/2007/02 and notice many still not processed two months later! If I were an admin here, I would be willing to help out with this backlog, as well as help with speedy deletions, deal with vandalism, and anything else needed. I would start out with the more clearcut cases that I understand, ask for assistance if I don't understand something 100%, and learn more as I work with deletion requests in practice. Needless to say, if you have any questions for me, please ask! -Aude (talk | contribs) 05:05, 26 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Of course, the multilingual and multi-project aspect of Commons is crucial, with actions here affecting multiple projects. Also, the rules differ on what's permitted here (more strict like dewiki). Though, I spend most of my time on enwiki and here, I have also edited on Meta-Wiki [1], as well as other projects including Wikiquote [2] , Wikinews [3], Wiktionary [4], and have been on Wikibooks. Also, have some ability to contribute to Spanish Wikipedia and Arabic Wikipedia, and have done minor edits on many other language wikis. [5] [6] [7] [8] [9] [10] [11] Now, I'm not 100% sure what admins do here when deleting images, if they go to each wiki and remove them from pages where they occur? But, would be willing to help do that, as needed. Or is there a bot that does that? -Aude (talk | contribs) 16:28, 27 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
If you delete copyvio, User:CommonsDelinker will do the job of removing references to deleted image. If you delete duplicate, you need to replace all references (User:CommonsDelinker could help there too) before deletion. --EugeneZelenko 14:06, 28 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know how the "Enable e-mail from other users" got unchecked in my preferences? It's set again. -Aude (talk | contribs) 08:13, 26 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
