Watermark removal

Request: These files and those in Category:Videos of 2008 attacks on Christians in southern Karnataka need to have the opening and closing logos and the watermarks in the corner removed, and some files need to be in 3:4. Kramer Associates (talk) 00:07, 6 November 2011 (UTC)

All the Daijiworld videos need work. See this. The following even have other local ads at the beginning.

Please have a look to this file. I have removed the logos at start and end of the original video, removed the logo at the left-top corner (visible during the whole playtime) and resized it to 320x270. Well, I will do it. But please be patient. Editing of each file takes about 2,5h... and my upload speed is also very slow (64 kbit/s). Please control the replaced files (see category). Request: Per this discussion: could someone edit out (screen blacking / still image (with text: "Google earth content replaced due to copyright reasons") for replacement) the google earth content in the middle of the video and upload as a new file version under same name? That can be done in a simple way using ffmeg2theora: 1.) download the mp4-file from youtube 2) open it in a media player (I prefer vlc) to determine the start- and endtime of the new clip. 3) create a batch file (windows) or use ffmpege2theora directly: ffmpeg2theora.exe %1 --starttime 25.603 --endtime 577.610 -x 360 -y 270 -v 8 (this example will work for Attack on Fr Sylvester - Massive Protest Held at Kundapur.mp4). The parameters starttime and endtime must be replaced by your findings from step 2 (in sec.), x and y are the resizing parameters for the resulting ogv, -v is the videoquality (default=6, you may increase or decrease it). Video convertion and compression

• Making cannabis resin, Uttarakhand, India.

File processed with mencoder DSCN1786.AVI -o recolte_du_cannabis.avi -nosound -ovc lavc -vf rotate=1 and then encoded with Oggconvert. The sound was garbage, so I removed it. Is this the best way to do it? After using mencoder, the file was 7 MB, now it is 23 MB. It is normal? Yann (talk) 23:17, 3 November 2011 (UTC)

You may do so. The file size depends on the duration of the video the choosen codec and the choosen bitrate. A higher bit rate is normally corresponding to a better video quality however also related to higher streaming rates. So if you want to play the video (here encoded with a bit rate of 4,9Mbps) within a wikipedia article you will need a very fast internet connection otherwise the videoplayer will stop a lot of times. Therefore I think the best way is to produce a second (smaller) version and use this file in wikipedia (and link it to the "big" version, so everybody can choose his preferred dimension of the video). Another issue: your video is a little bit shaky. To solve that problem my way would be (on Windows): Download virtualdub-win/1.9.11.32842/VirtualDub-1.9.11.zip/download and dezip it to a new created folder. Download deshaker and put it into the plugin folder (in the virtualdub folder). If you have no lossless video codec installed download and install Lagarith Lossless Video Codec.

Open virtualdub.exe, go to menu: File->Open video file and load your source avi. Select menu: Video->Filters and push the add button, select the rotate filter and choose the direction of the rotation. Push the add button again and select the deshaker plugin. In the openig form select Pass 1 (on the left) and push OK. In the main frame of virtualdub select the |< button (below the source video) and push Enter -> the deshaking analyse starts. If it has finished go to menu:Video->Filters and doubleklick the deshaker plugin. Now select Pass 2 (left side) go to Pass 2 parameters (right side) and check "use previous and future..", make sure both parameters are =30. Set extra zoom factor =1.1 push OK and OK again. Select |< button again, do RETURN again. If you see any black areas (top,bottom,left, right) you have to increase the extra zoom factor (analogue to the last steps). Now select menu: Video->Compression, select(on left side) the Lagarith (or another lossless) codec. In case of Lagarith select the configure button on right side of the box and select YV12 mode. Ok and Ok again brings you back to the virtualdub surface. Push F7 and save your avi (as a new file). Now convert this to ogv. Okay, done with 288x512 pixels. I think the effect of deshaking is clearly visible: the video becomes stabilized and the resulting black areas at the boarders are filled by zooming in (resizing). But please do not overwrite you original file by a smaller version, upload it as a separate file and link it ("other versions") to the bigger one. Correcting white balance

I have managed to improve the video quality a bit, to resize it, and to cut it at the end, but the red color remains. Could someone have a look please? Audio: Try audacity(also available for Linux)for audio manipulations, your avis should be loaded directly. Save the results as ogg-vorbis (and you may choose a a better quality level). FLac is a lossless codec mainly for archiving purpose (in lossless quality in smaller files related to wave files). However if you like to use flac please let anything (like stereo level or frequency) as within your source else you will have a quality downgrading during the transformation. I think the problem of your audio file is the frequency of 22050Hz.

Video: Sorry, I am not familiar in the Linux world. But Cinelerra and blender should have effective colour correction capabilities. --Pristurus (talk) 14:31, 10 November 2011 (UTC)

Flooding video with chat

I'd propose the green text (title of video/IRC chat) be preserved. The first one should appear in the entire video probably reading "LordKaT Live! | Hurricane Irene Transmission, Live from Staten Island" or some similar message. Awesome (also the full editing source code - great!). For some reason the time stamp is jumping vertically. Do you know why or have an easy way to fix it?

I am using the default flash player here on wikimedia websites. Not certain what is running. If you full resolution the video on chrome there is discoloration at the top and bottom edge of the video form time to time. Maybe it is a player issue. -- とある白い猫 ^ちぃ？ 02:07, 6 September 2011 (UTC)

I don't suggest to reduce the bit rate even more. Right now its at approx. 128 kbps for those files and that's just fine. A higher bit rate would only boost the file size and lower the quality. A lower bit rate would introduce even more compression artefacts. --McZusatz (talk) 10:45, 26 March 2012 (UTC)
