this template violates wikimedia policy: WIKIMEDIA IS NOT CENSORED! the template is flawed in multiple ways: it is poorly worded, provides blank cheque rational, open to abuse. does not cite or reflect official wm policy or guidelines, it is too generalized & does not provide specific reasons, it is borderline comic-insulting. this template represents the views of certain factions on wiki, but it does not in any way remotely represent a consensus opinion on the relevant issues. it also violates NNPOV; among other reasons: it is discriminatory based on gender. i am not aware of a "no vagina" template (if there is one, it should probably be prod'ed too) --Lx 121 (talk) 07:30, 13 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Keep You are wrong. WikiCommons has too many penis images already. There has to be a limit to everything. This template is needed here. --Leoboudv (talk) 09:01, 13 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
template is NNPOV, there is no WMC POLICY: WE HAVE TOO MUCH OF THIS STUFF. if WMC implements such a policy, then can can delete about 3/4 of the files on WMC. this is not about having "too much", this is about people wanting to censor commons. WMC has vast quantities of pictures on many subjects. we do not have serious discussions about blocking the upload of more pictures of trains, planes, automobiles, houses or trees. if we want to start having a discussion about limiting the quantity of material on a given subject, fine. BUT APPLY THE POLICY FAIRLY & EQUALLY TO ALL SUBJECTS. this template IS censorship. Lx 121 (talk) 10:03, 13 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  •  Keep This is not about censorship, this is about *a lot* of men/boys who for some reason feel the need to show their dick to the world. This template is a polite way of telling them that we're not very interested. Finn Rindahl (talk) 10:50, 13 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
SEE ABOVE; i'm sorry, but that is not a legitimate rationale. it is not wmc policy, it is not concensus, it is censorship by people who don't like looking at pictures of a certain subject. if we are going to create a policy on wikimedia that defines limits on the number of images allowed on a given subject (images that meet all other wmc criteria), then so be it. but that policy has to be applied FAIRLY & EQUALLY. wmc has vast numbers of pictures of train, planes, automobiles, house4s, etc. if we are going to houseclean for redundancy, a lot of those need to go. BUT unless there is a WMC POLICY: WE HAVE ENOUGH OF THIS SUBJECT DO NOT UPLOAD ANYMORE, this template & the opinions it reflect are not NNPOV. it does not matter if the subject is penises or flowers, either we do or we do not have an official wmc policy limiting quantities. right now, we do not. Lx 121 (talk) 10:58, 13 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
We do not have an official Commons policy limiting quantities. We don't have a policy prohibiting use of Common sense either. Refusing to host uploads of thousands of penises is not a matter of policy, it's common sense - and doing the sensible thing is a legitimate rationale. •  Keep it may not be perfect & needs improvement but Commons is not a place that every guy can upload his genitalia. --Herby talk thyme 11:29, 13 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  •  Comment I created this template simply as a casual message to be put on the talk page of users who had no contributions to Wikimedia other than uploading a low-res photo of their penis (often very poorly photographed apparently with cel phones). It was not intended as any sort of "policy". The early version simply read "Commons now has sufficient low-quality images of male genitalia. We don't need any more, thank you all the same." (AnonMoos's File:Nopenis.svg I think added a bit of levity while reinforcing the message.) Wikipedians had been leaving messages with similar wording for some time; I created the template to save the effort of typing this type of message over and over. Nothing more nor less. -- Infrogmation (talk) 12:27, 13 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  •  Keep. This is not a matter of censorship. This is just a matter of us having just too much of something. We don't need redundancy. Most of those "uploads" are just "Look at me! I'm posting my cock on the internet!" anyway. ViperSnake151 (talk) 12:44, 13 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  •  Keep It's not censorship, it's a user message telling people we don't need their penises, just like we don't need vandalism, copyvio, or spam. And "poorly worded" is never a reason to delete something, it's a surmountable problem. Rjanag (talk) 13:22, 13 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  •  Keep We're not required to keep all miscellaneous uploaded images, if we decide that such images are low-quality, redundant with respect to numerous previously-uploaded images, or lacking in any legitimate quasi-educational use; and this template usefully explains one particular aspect of COMMONS:SCOPE as to why certain types of images are often deleted... AnonMoos (talk) 14:01, 13 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
    • It looks like it's SNOWing. I would do a non-admin closure, but I'm not very active on commons (I'm mostly an en-wiki editor) so it would probably be better for someone in good standing here to do it. Rjanag (talk) 14:29, 13 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Kept. Although we don't do "snow" here I'm inclined to agree. I'll put it down to someone new to Commons not understanding things here. While I'd not get very unhappy I don't see this should be re-opened. Herby talk thyme 14:36, 13 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
