Passport covers uploaded by User:Noble

[edit]

Scans/photos of various passport covers uploaded and licensed as "own work". The scan/photo for sure may be claimed as own work by the uploader, but I believe the copyright of the cover imagery itself is held by the issuing government organization. It's possible that some of these may qualify as public domain, but in such cases an appropriate copyright tag should be added for the imagery itself perhaps in addition to or as a replacement for the {{PD-self}} or {{Self}} tags. --Marchjuly (talk) 01:48, 30 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Kept It is probably true that most country's copyright laws allow a government copyright for passports, but not all do. Also, in many cases above, this is not the only passport we have from the country and if the one should be deleted, then they all should be nominated and, if appropriate, deleted. Therefore, please do the research, country by country and for countries where the passport is copyrighted, please nominate all of them. In countries where passports are not copyrighted, please change the file description as you suggest, removing the incorrect claim that the uploader holds any copyright and adding PD-Gov-XYZ Country or text to the same effect. .     Jim . . . .
