Murales of Diego Rivera
[edit]I believe that the files contained in the Category:Murales by Diego Rivera in the Palacio Nacional are all copyvios because Diego Rivera died less than 70 years ago. El ComandanteHasta ∞ 15:17, 20 May 2009 (UTC)
- As far as I can see, this request not only concerns the category mentioned above, but the vast majority of all images in the Category:Murals. Most of these images have in common that they are modern works of art in public spaces, buildings etc. In the case of Mexico you find murals on a great variety of public buildings; they were supposed to have an educational effect on the public audience. Today Wikipedia is an ideal outlet for educational purposes, isn´t it?
- So the question for me is:How far is a copy right of any artist valid in these cases? Is that a case of "freedom of panorama"? It seems to me that these problems need to be discussed - and solved - before any deletion. Regards Xenophon 10:30, 21 May 2009 ( UTC )
- Keep Of course the copyright of the artist(s) is valid. However, it seems that COM:FOP#Mexico would be relevant, which allows reproduction of works "visible from public places". --Latebird (talk) 11:27, 21 May 2009 (UTC)
- Thank you for this information. It seems that I'd better never have asked the deletion of this file, so I'm going to ask its undeletion. I'm sorry for having disturbed so many people for nothing. El ComandanteHasta ∞ 15:49, 21 May 2009 (UTC)
