Was previously tagged as copyvio by Roqz, citing the FaceApp ToU. There are two things to discuss here: 1) whether these images are copyrightable; and 2) whether they are in scope. On the first point, they appear to be automatically generated by an AI based on a PD image from the Wikipedia article, so we need to discuss if FaceApp has contributed any creative elements that merit copyright protection (irrespective of what its terms of use say) or if it is uncopyrightable as the work of an algorithm. On the second point, the images are currently COM:INUSE on Spanish Wikipedia. However, they were all added by the uploader, so if anyone wishes to remove them, then they are no longer automatically in COM:SCOPE. Then it becomes a question of whether it is useful for Commons to host large quantities of modern AI recreations of historical portraits.

@King of Hearts: Hi, another user and myself have now removed the sole usage of these files in es.wiki. In this particular case, the generated faces are a 'guess' and they look (subjectively) very different as how these individuals, which were in most cases mestizo latinoamericans, might have looked. The AI filters might have been trained with another ethnic group dataset to which it has a very strong bias (to my eyes the gallery look like members of a euro/american parliament or the like). Also, the files uploaded by these user and their alternate account 'Walter Camacho 5654' tend to be just copied from elsewhere, which is also troubling. There have been deletion requests made by another user and myself about this, but is a bit tiring doing reverse image searches for each one. --Roqz (talk) 03:55, 13 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
