- Question to uploader, why are many of these images considerably scaled up?--BevinKacon (talk)
- I scaled it, so it shows up if you search for large pictures on search engines LordLiberty (talk) 21:07, 9 October 2020 (UTC)
- That is another reason to delete. — Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me 13:53, 10 October 2020 (UTC)

- Comment The uploader has taken to updating the sources (while removing the deletion notices. On that basis, is that image moot? -- Ricky81682 (talk) 03:19, 22 September 2020 (UTC)
- @Ricky81682: Yes, I struck it. — Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me 03:28, 22 September 2020 (UTC)
- Upon further review, support deletion of File:Advertising poster for Akir Cigarettes, with king Leopold 2 of the Belgians.jpg for a lack of information about its source, and File:Force Publique soldiers leaving for Ethiopia.jpg for an alleged 2010 source (absent further details from the uploader). Keep rest. I'm still not clear "Belgian Information Center 630 Fifth Avenue, New York (1942)" provides much clarity. Was it displayed by the Belgian Information Center in 1942? Was it produced by them? According to this page, it is not a formal government agency so the images need to be from a government agency. -- Ricky81682 (talk) 08:05, 22 September 2020 (UTC)
- Keep all Insufficient rationale. Nearly all these are over a century old - Gustave Flasschoen, the author of one press cartoon, died in 1940. File:Remember December 7th" US Government propaganda poster concerning the Attack on Pearl Harbor of 1942.jpg is a US Govt poster, properly tagged as PD. In fact we have at least 3 other images of the poster, but this is much the best. What's the issue here? Johnbod (talk) 03:52, 22 September 2020 (UTC)
- @Johnbod: Where did the uploader get these posters? Why does the one you mentioned have such prominent deformation from not being laid completely flat? — Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me 06:07, 22 September 2020 (UTC)
- Obviously because it had been folded, probably for many years. This is a government propaganda poster, probably printed in many 10,000s. Why do these questions matter? Johnbod (talk) 22:04, 9 November 2020 (UTC)

- To be fair, none of those had that information when these were listed for deletion. -- Ricky81682 (talk) 08:06, 22 September 2020 (UTC)
- => Indeed, that is exactly the point. This is fraud.--Carolus (talk) 14:03, 11 November 2020 (UTC)
- That is simply not true. Please look carefully at the history of the images, e.g. with this caricature. Prior to the deletion proposal, the metadata contained the name of the author and the source (Le Cri de Paris, 28 April 1901). It might not have been in the correct box, but information on sources, author and dates was present from the start. Vysotsky (talk) 14:20, 11 November 2020 (UTC)

- Keep all As per Johnbod. No proof has been provided that these images are still copyright-protected. Applodion (talk) 08:37, 22 September 2020 (UTC)
- Keep Resp.: author died 1940, 1909, 1948, PD-US-Gov, author died 1934, author unknown, "Julio" 1907, unknown phot., unknown 1888, unknown phot WWI. Vysotsky (talk) 11:26, 22 September 2020 (UTC)
- Keep all, but fix licensing, per Vysotsky and Johnbod. Also, LordLiberty needs to stop marking COM:DW scans and photos as {{Own}}, even if it only as an expedient to be soon corrected: UploadWizard can and should be set up to pre-select the correct license. -- Tuválkin ✉ ✇ 01:47, 24 September 2020 (UTC)
- Delete all, origin might be unclear. Copyvio? these works of art could be proteced. --Carolus (talk) 08:53, 26 September 2020 (UTC)
- As I showed above, the images have no copyright restrictions, and are useful images. They can be kept now the license has been fixed. Vysotsky (talk) 08:08, 12 October 2020 (UTC)
LordLiberty = globally locked, his socks globally blocked
[edit]- Comment I am unconvinced that the uploader scanned the media, but this does not change their copyright status.--BevinKacon (talk) 15:04, 15 October 2020 (UTC)
- @BevinKacon: I guess we will never know, as LordLiberty is globally locked. — Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me 22:32, 15 October 2020 (UTC)
- That changes a lot, he requested to delete al his contributions. Not a nice guy...--Carolus (talk) 09:04, 10 November 2020 (UTC)
- That request is not relevant. Copyright is OK. Relevant licenses are fixed. The images are useful. Vysotsky (talk) 12:59, 10 November 2020 (UTC)
- ??? Copyright is not OK, images are younger then 70 years, and lack of sources.--Carolus (talk) 17:30, 10 November 2020 (UTC)
- You now seem to agree the request is not relevant. Re copyright: see above (resp.: author died 1940, 1909, 1948, PD-US-Gov, author died 1934, author unknown, "Julio" 1907, unknown photographer, unknown photographer 1888, unknown photograher WWI). - Let me make myself very clear: VERY strong Delete all.--Carolus (talk) 10:55, 11 November 2020 (UTC)
- That's clear indeed. I like arguments, though. Can you give a valid reason to delete c:File:Portrait Caricature Of King Leopold II of the Belgians from Charles Lucien Léandre.jpg? (I just picked one from the list.) The source is named, including the date; the caricature is signed and dated (1897); the author (Charles Léandre) died in 1934 and Commons hosts several of his caricatures. This is just one example -I am willing to discuss all of the files seperately, but I don't see any valid arguments to remove these pictures from Commons. Vysotsky (talk) 11:36, 11 November 2020 (UTC)
- Let's agree to disagree, and leave this in peace, have a nice day.--Carolus (talk) 14:01, 11 November 2020 (UTC)

Deleted: partially deleted those with insufficient source like Belgian Information Center 630 with unknown author as we can't ensure that the image is indeed in PD. others kept. --rubin16 (talk) 17:53, 8 July 2021 (UTC)
