Claimed to be "own work" of the uploader, who scanned the image in 2009 and then "released it into the public domain". This is not valid of course, scanning a photo does not make you its author. As there is virtually no information about the photograph's author and the year it was taken, it should be deleted per the precautionary principle. Rosenzweig τ 11:46, 8 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Claimed to be PD-Poland, which is only applicable to photographs - but this is a drawing, not a photograph. Also claimed to be Anonymous-EU, but I don't see any documented research to determine if the author of this drawing is really "unknown" in a legal sense or if, which seems more likely to me, the uploader simply didn't bother to find out. These logos of a student radio station are over the threshold of originality, and it's highly likely the uploader doesn't have the right to release them under a free license. Therefore they can't be hosted on Commons.

I am also nominating the rest of the pictures uploaded by this user. This user was warned previously not upload copyrighted material, and I think did it again, only this time its said the pictures are own work, which is hard to believe, as some of the images lack EXIF file and others have, but it's always different. Finally, I have made a random search with TinEye, and appear entries in various media (including commercial sites that claim copyrights).—Frei sein (Talk to me!) 07:29, 8 March 2014 (UTC) Ps: Yesterday, I already nominated one image upload from this user, because in the lower right corner has the watermark from a web that specializes in wallpaper pics. Вы уж извините, уважаемая г-жа Иванова, но ваши каменты свидетельствуют о полном незнании лицензионной политики Викисклада, а также о нежелании освоить оную. Вам следовало бы грузить ваши творения где-нибудь на фликре. --A.Savin 22:07, 9 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Ваши фотографии Сочи - крайне полезны для проекта. Но фотки с экрана зомбоящика, мониторов трансляции, сканы газет, журналов,... - здесь всегда удалялись и будут удаляться. I'd agree that even the "fixed" version was a borderline case, lens flare is bad because the quick and easy tricks one can generally use to massively improve a mediocre image also end up exaggerating the flare.
I had another quick go at retrieving this one for the sake of it (the "current" version as of 17:32, 8 March), but it's quite processed looking. Ubcule (talk) 17:33, 8 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Dubious copyright claim. The uploader, a single-purpose-account focused on the subject, claims the image as their own work. The image is a mediocre scan of a printed photo lifted from the subjects' website. It seems unlikely that the original photo, the print and the scan were all the work of the same party (if they were it would be easier to just upload the original photo). If the three are not all the work of the same party, then the uploaders claim of 'own work' is incorrect. Kaimahi (talk) 20:12, 8 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

New ask for deletion

[edit]

I think this page had been classified too quickly ; I'm asking again it to be deleted.

Reasons :

  • The file contains explicit nude contains, as it was mentioned before
  • It depicts identifiable person, with no way to tell wether it the downloader is the person pictured or not : by what we know, it could be a stolen photo published without permission.
  • It has been objected that the file was in use on the wiki : the only page using it is User:OgreBot/Uploads by new users/2014 February 24 18:00, wich only lists new files ; it, indeed, indicates that the file is marked with a deletion request, and that the user already has a DR notice. No real page in any wiki uses it as a pertinent illustration.

I think the request has really been classified too quickly ; both Thermicien and Rybec argued against keeping it ; I think the argument that it is used can't stand, and being a selfie can't be a sufficient criter to keep it. The only person asking to keep it is the downloader itself, that, by the way, forgot to sign... -TheF (talk) 16:05, 7 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  1.  Delete - As I said, unappropriate nude picture of an identifiable person ; no use on educative purpose -TheF (talk) 16:05, 7 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  2.  Delete : Picture useless, too identifiable person, nothing says she is agrees. Rome2 (talk) 16:14, 7 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  3.  Delete Consent could be shown by showing permission, which should be done because it is the only upload from that account. The photo was removed today from the "Selfie" article on the Swedish Wikipedia diff, on the grounds that there were too many images in the article. The line through my comment was meant to show that I had changed my mind because the reason I had given was no longer valid. Rybec (talk) 19:06, 7 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  4.  Delete Useless file with nude body. In my opinion Wikimedia Commons is not a place for erotic photos. -- Thermicien (talk) 11:00, 10 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  5.  Delete per "Low-quality pornographic images that do not contribute anything educationally useful to our existing collection of images are not needed on the Commons." However, Thermicien, your statement that "Wikimedia Commons is not a place for erotic photos" is troubling because my understanding is that Commons is NOT censored and that erotic photos in and of themselves are absolutely fine if they contribute in an educationally-useful context, no? It is highly unlikely that this image is the uploader's own work. A higher resoluted version is e.g. available on amazon which was previously available there than on Commons. If the uploader should have been the original creator they should upload it in a higher resolution than the one's from the web High Contrast (talk) 21:38, 8 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The Amazon image you link is smaller, not bigger. --Schwarzorange (talk) 15:31, 9 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Do you want me to convert it to 501 px? Compare the height of the two images. Understood? --Schwarzorange (talk) 16:50, 9 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

No, you will not convert anything. But you are still invited to upload your original full resoluted version with your EXIF data in order to show that amazon chose to use your image. And no, the white edge of the image is null because any idiot can add it or crop it away. Nevertheless, stop your attempt wasting other people's time. Just bring valid evidence that _you_ are the photographer of this image. And by the way, you might notice this image from this webshop - they also took "your photograph" by using a time machine or what? --High Contrast (talk) 16:57, 9 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Stop wasting other people's time yourself. No, I will not make available a hires version of this photo for free, since it is paid studio work. --Schwarzorange (talk) 17:12, 9 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Aha, a "paid studio work". It gets better and better. If this should be true, you must bring the permission for a free release of your studio photographer. Did this studio photographer bring this image to amazon or to the other web shop before you did decide to upload it to Commons? --High Contrast (talk) 17:11, 10 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I am the photographer. My friend, how many times do you want to hear it? --Schwarzorange (talk) 12:49, 11 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  •  Oppose Most probably; there's nothing that justifies this deletion. And the image is used in the Visual Editor documentation (French version). The image is the French version of the similar image showing English, which is not deleted either. The iamge is appropriately described and licensed. Such request from unknown IP contributor, without any justification, may just be a random attack against Wikimedia projects, similar to spam; it may be interesting to see if that user has also targetted other images or attempted to deface some pages (but his past edit history on Commons is limited to just this page). As noted on the English Wikipedia, the colours are badly done, the resolution is pretty awful, and also the data represented by this map seems to be completely incorrect, and is uncited. Many different sources cite different areas claimed by the countries in this map. The talk page on Wikipedia has more detail on why this image should be deleted. Flags of Santander, Colombia

[edit]

We need to have a single file of the flag of this Colombian department. Currently in commons there are three versions of this flag, one of which is the most used through wikis and which has the longest history (Flag of Santander (Colombia).svg). The flag has changed several times of white stars on his left part (first 5, later 8 and currently has 6), I updated this last named file (for the reasons given above) and also I uploaded the earlier versions as historical flags (Historical flags of the department of Santander).

The official website of the department has no page about their symbols (previously it had, but was removed), however in these images ([4] and [5]) we can see how is the current flag. The pages have date in case if you wish to review it.

Therefore, to unify the use and history of this flag, I propose the deletion of the following images:

Pardon my english. --Shadowxfox (talk) 17:46, 8 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I would suggest keeping File:Flag of Santander Department.svg and deleting the other two, this one is the best quality. Fry1989 eh? 19:54, 8 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
That file has wrong the size of the bars, in particular the red bar and the black bar. I don't know what are you referring with "best quality", because all the three flags are SVG.--Shadowxfox (talk) 07:10, 9 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
The colours are better and the stars are best aligned. You can change the red bar if need be. Fry1989 eh? 17:53, 9 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, but according to my opinion these reasons are not enough to keep it. Why? the colors don't follow the parameters of the FIAV/Wiki. The stars and the bars don't follow the alignment shown here and here.--Shadowxfox (talk) 18:39, 9 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
The FIAV rules mean nothing, countries don't have to follow that and I bet you most don't. That file's colours are closest to your photos. And as I said before, you can fix the bars if they are wrong, or did you just ignore that part of my response? Fry1989 eh? 18:59, 9 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Pardon? the FIAV conventions mean NOTHING? you, who claims to be a passionate in vexillology says that thing? I'm ignoring your request for 2 reasons: first, the most used flag was updated, and second, the most commonly used file of this pavilion is Flag_of_Santander_(Colombia).svg in all wikipedias which reduces to 0 the operations have to perform a robot to change file names in all wikipedias (pardon the redundancy and my English). Standardization in files of commons is not explicit but implicit rule, and follow the conventions of the workshops about vexillology is a form of it. --Shadowxfox (talk) 00:05, 10 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
That's exactly right, it means nothing. Countries define their flag colours, not some convention. Fry1989 eh? 00:42, 10 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I think the reasons that you have given are not meaningful either (¿this file has better quality? ¿the colors are better?); is ironic considering that you say FIAV colors mean nothing, then the colors of File:Flag of Santander Department.svg not mean anything neither, the file has no relevance and can be deleted for that reason.

The colors of all flags of the Colombian departments in commons follows the parameters of the FIAV because there is no law showing that tonalities must use. My proposal is simple: standardize the flags of Colombian departments (colors and names), keep on commons the file most used (File:Flag of Santander (Colombia).svg) and modify it to convenience.

According to you, no matter if the bots have to change 30,000 articles in all wikis, because this file is most beautiful. Please, let's be serious: the administrators of commons have rejected other requested made by me for more logical reasons.--Shadowxfox (talk) 03:43, 10 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The statement at the sources webpage is not free enough. Your are free to use them as long as you credit the photographer but this does not include making derivatives, and spreading the file. Statement is not free enough for Commons.

Natuur12 (talk) 12:21, 20 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • I see your point. What should be the statement on their website, so I'll ask them to change it if they want to. Which of these licences are suitable for commons (CC BY; CC BY-ND; CC BY-NC-SA; CC BY-SA; CC BY-NC; CC BY-NC-ND) see here? And otherwise, since the images are free to use, is it maybe possible to move them to Wikipedia, so they can still be used in articles? Sander.v.Ginkel (talk) 12:58, 20 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • I figured out it is also not allowed to upload the files to Wikipedia. I sent the team an email to ask them whether or not they allow it to keep the images on Wikimedia/Wikipedia. Please give them some time to reply before removing the images. Sander.v.Ginkel (talk) 13:54, 23 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • @Sander.v.Ginkel: CC BY (attribution) and CC BY-SA (attribution and share-alike) are OK; any jurisdiction (including the "generic" jurisdiction) and any version (including "or any later version") are acceptable: for example {{Cc-by-sa-2.0+}}. Really, anything without the "NC" or "ND" parts. {{CC-zero}} is also acceptable, but you probably don't want that because it doesn't require attribution: It's basically a public domain dedication. --Closeapple (talk) 16:40, 23 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Yes. Either CC-BY or CC-BY-SA is acceptable. Note that both WP:EN and Commons require that images be free for any use -- a "yes" as an answer to your question "whether or not they allow it to keep the images on Wikimedia/Wikipedia" is not sufficient for either. .     Jim . . . .
