- First, as someone who made over 20,000 edits at en.wiki I suggest it is simply not credible for uploader to claim they didn't understand the rights given away via a creative commons license.
- Second, as was explained during the original deletion discussion, courtesy deletions of images that are in use is so rare no one can think of an example. I suspect that this is not an instance of uploader not understanding the CC license, but rather an instance where uploader understood the rights he released at the time, and now wants to claw back those rights, because he didn't get his way during the first deletion discussion.
- Note: Uploader had made identical deletion requests on all the other images they uploaded Cape Barren Goose, Noisy Miner, House Sparrow, Collared Kingfisher, Pacific Gull. I think they should all be speedily kept. Geo Swan (talk) 01:31, 23 July 2013 (UTC)

This is clearly Photoshopped and the uploader has a long history of self-promotional copyvios etc. I'll list some later but a glance at their talk page demonstrates it. I'm not convinced this is own work. Sitush (talk) 07:06, 21 July 2013 (UTC)
- Every single image ever uploaded by Krant M. L. Verma, over a prolonged period of time, has ended up being deleted here and at en-WP. They are indefinitely banned from en-WP and 3-month banned from Hindi WP for competence issues. Some of the past deletions have been taken from book covers - eg: this one - and this 'shopped image looks like just the sort of thing that would appear on the back of a book. In any event, it seems unlikely that he took the portrait that has been superimposed on the background - he would need a self-timer for that and his image manipulation skills are practically zero, per past deletions of derived/composite materials. It is unlikely that you did because you have uploaded much more recent work that would have benefited from Photoshop or a similar program but was instead manipulated in a very naive manner (sorry, I can't think of a better word right now). Some may be borderline, but claiming that File:Angry Birds Toons.jpg consists solely of simple geometric shapes and text is just plain silly. (Presumably, it's the same image as File:Angrybirdstoons.png, recreated outside of process.)

- User:SonofSetanta seems to claim that he is the photographer and copyright holder of this image [7]. He also claims that he is the photographer of File:UDR Soldiers in South Armagh.jpg, and that he is the copyright holder of an arrse.co.uk post in which he states that he is also one of the men depicted in the photograph. However, none of the men in that photograph (taken in Ireland in 1985) are old enough to have plausibly written the text of File:War Dairy October 1944.jpg in 1944. Absent a plausible explanation for this apparent contradiction, we should assume that this image is a copyright violation with falsified authorship information. (Besides which, it is unlikely that the copyright to British military reports rests with the soldier who wrote them; more likely they are covered under Crown Copyright.) - I did not come across this until now so am unaware of what the file looked like however I'm sure I'll be able to recover it from the North Irish Horse themselves. For all you people say you know about copyright you don't seem to be aware that Crown Copyright on written or printed matter expires after 50 years, except where otherwise stated - idiot! I cannot comment on what information I gave when the file was uploaded but as a copyright expired image it is free use and should not have been deleted. Once again I am appalled by the action of a copyright editor who claims to be acting for the benefit of the wiki but then deletes a free file which was there to the advantage of the article, and once again you have called me a liar. I will not have it, do you understand? This file was of little consequence to the article but just to spite you I will upload it again and I will do that with every file you wrongly delete. I really don't know what gets into you people but you seem to be the sort who enjoy pulling the legs off spiders. I suggest you re-examine w.WP:GOODFAITH again and start showing some of it to people like me who give so much time to creating and writing articles, uploading our own images for free as well as canvassing the world for others we can use to the benefit of the wiki. With respect to the points you raised about Crown copyright, please be advised that it persists for 50 years following first publication, not 50 years following its creation. Could you please confirm the date of first publication for this image? I wasn't able to find it myself, though as a confidential military report it is unlikely it was published at the time it was written in 1944. - I accept your apology. I'm not here to fight with you as explained on your talk page. British War Diaries should be assumed to be unpublished. Older ones (as in this case) are hand written or typed but that doesn't change the fact that they are official documents and fall into Crown Copyright very squarely. If a complete war diary were published by HMSO or it's replacement TSO, then they would be subject to the 50 year rule from date of publication as you say but in the main the 50 year rule on war diaries is applied to date of creation. If you look at one you'll see why they don't get published - they don't make for good reading. I did check the page for the Thunderer but that nomination wasn't there at that time which is why I've missed it. While it's out of the ordinary and you're under no obligation to do so, may I suggest that in future you drop me a quick note on my talk page if you see issues with an image belonging to The Thunderer, or GDD1000 and I will engage with you quickly and collegiately to try and resolve whatever is wrong. I'm asking because these images are valuable. Sometimes it takes a lot to find them. At the moment I'm advertising on regimental web pages to try and find the ones I need for Ulster Defence Regiment because all regimental documents and images have been archived and the archive is closed for many years because of the sensitivity of its content. As said on your talk page: let's work together for the good of the wiki. I'm straight with you and will never be dishonest when it comes to image licencing. - The rights managers, Camera Press, is only a "picture agency," according to their own description. Such agencies are only a warehouse and redistributor of photos and rarely own any copyrights.
- All of the photos listed above were first published on the covers of Wisdom Magazine, a U.S. publication, beginning in 1956. Karsh was their main photographer whose job it was to take portraits of famous people that were the subject of its issues. In fact, the April 1958 issue was devoted to his work:
Yousuf Karsh of Ottawa, Canada, needs no introduction to the readers of Wisdom, or, as a matter of fact, to the world today, for his living portraits of great men and women which have appeared regularly on the covers of Wisdom, month after month from its first issue, have brought him world-wide fame and admiration.
- The magazine discontinue publication in the early 1960s and never renewed any of their copyrights. Nor did Karsh register any of the photos for copyright in the U.S., which a search will confirm. Considering that he didn't bother copyrighting his photos for Wisdom in the U.S., which had and has 10 times the population of Canada, it's very likely he didn't bother doing so in Canada. And it's doubtful he would have had the right to register in any case, since his employer publication would generally retain all rights to their photos that they had him take as a staff photographer.
- As for a copyright notice on the website of a photo agency, the issue of "copyfraud" comes up, and other photo agencies like Corbis and Getty also have copyright notices posted on their cites, hoping to corner the market perhaps. --Wikiwatcher1 (talk) 00:15, 22 July 2013 (UTC)
