Changed from copyvio. I tagged this as a copyvio yesterday because the image also appears here. On the talk page, the uploader claims to have some kind of permission, but it might only be for Wikipedia. For the uploader: if the permission mentions some free licence, please follow the instructions at COM:OTRS; if not, the image should be deleted. Stefan4 (talk) 17:16, 14 March 2012 (UTC)

- Keep as PD-ineligible. Copyright being based upon originality, it isn't well adapted to conceptual art. Here is a good example. Jastrow (Λέγετε) 23:21, 12 May 2012 (UTC)
- Interesting ambivalent issue. Klein and others would say the idea to such a provocative (or boring) painting is original enough as it was the revolutionary Black Square of Kazimir Malevich from 1915. Klein simplified even that and this after decades. Thus, the question is justifiable if this is a really original creation. This issue is not only a juridical one but gives a dubious aspect to some schools of modern art. To avoid mistakes and troubles to keep this "blue monochrome" it may be marked as a "fake" anyway. Unfortunately, the criteria given at {{PD-Liberia}} lead me to believe that non-textual Liberian government works, such as coins, are not in the public domain until the time of copyright expires, and something produced in the 1990s definitely hasn't gotten to that point yet. Given the history of the country during the 1990s, I doubt that this is a government work in the first place; I'd guess that it's like Liberian stamps of the period, which were produced and sold to collectors by American firms rather than being produced for the Liberian government and sold/used thereby. This file was tagged by Saibo as Copyvio for the following reason: google earth images are not free. Please read about Internet images and the intro of COM:L, thanks Saibo (Δ) 01:31, 14 March 2012 (UTC)

- Hello saibo..
- En Français : pour ma part, je ne vois pas de problème
1) Comme cela était déjà précisé ; Ce fichier provient d'un article qui est lui même en licence ouverte compatible avec Commons :
Copyright : "This is an Open Access article: verbatim copying and redistribution of this article are permitted in all media for any purpose" (Source)}}.
2) l'image ne provient pas de Google earth, mais de la Nasa qui autorise la réutilisation --F. Lamiot (talk) 23:22, 13 March 2012 (UTC). - in english: For my part, I see no problem
1) This file is comming from an article which is itself in open license compatible with Commons: Copyright
: "This is an Open Access article: verbatim copying and redistribution of this article are permitted in all media for Any purpose "(Source)} }.
2) the image is not from Google Earth, but from NASA (that allows reuse) --F. Lamiot (talk) 23:22, 13 March 2012 (UTC).
- Hi Lamiot, thank you for your comment. Sorry, I cannot answer well in French, hope it is okay for your in English.
- On the file page it is described as "see Google Earth image, right". So from which NASA source is this satellite image? How do we know it from the NASA? The license for the whole article applies to the work of the authors and they may make errors. Thanks for your help to find out the correct copyright situation! --Saibo (Δ) 01:35, 14 March 2012 (UTC)
- Hello. Congratulations, you're very observant. Actually one of the images is from Google Earth, I did'nt rememember that.. But the article is written in a journal widely known. This is a refereed journal. I guess the author requested and received permission from Google earth, because in this kind of review, the editor checks that there is permission to publish the image. The editor said: "Copyright This is an Open Access article: verbatim copying and redistribution of this article are permitted in all media for Any Purpose." So I deduced that one could use the image on wikipedia and commons. (In this sort of case, are'nt we protected by this sentence ?). If you want, You can possibly try to confirm directly with the author (or Google Earth ?). for me, two or three times I tried to contact authors by e-mail with this kind of application I have not had a response (except once when the holder of satellite images that I found interesting was put itself on Commons responded to my request, here... but it took me a long time to explain why and how to offer this image to Wikimedia Commons) ;

This is a statue by Oscar Nemon (1906-1985). There is no FOP in Belgium. BrightRaven (talk) 07:07, 14 March 2012 (UTC)
- I beliewe, this whole affair with FOP in Belgium is big nonsence and made really great pointlesss troubless to many good working wikipedians. For Belgium FOP there is written: Modern pieces of art cannot be the central motive of a commercially available photograph without permission of the artwork copyright holder. But Wikipedia is not commercial subject, everything here is based on voluntary, complimetary contributions of all Wikipedians and Wikipedia did not offer its work for any commercial usage! So, please, use common sense and stop this absurd hunting for images like this one. Thanks, --Karelj (talk) 21:52, 14 March 2012 (UTC)

AFBorchert (talk) 18:21, 14 March 2012 (UTC)
English summary: This photograph was not (as claimed in the description) created by overberg but by the photographer Fritz Krauskopf who had his business in Königsberg in Prussia. Publications and postcards by him can be found from the 1930s and 1940s. So far we have no proof that this photograph is indeed {{PD-old}} as claimed. --AFBorchert (talk) 18:32, 14 March 2012 (UTC)

- The image is apparently the uploader's own work, so there's no issue there. The question is whether the flag really is that of the military of Somalia. On this point, the article linked to above is titled Ciidanka Soomaaliya, which is also the title of the Military of Somalia article on the Somali Wikipedia [7]. Thus, it would indeed appear that the flag is that of the military of Somalia. Middayexpress (talk) 14:52, 21 March 2012 (UTC)
- But there's still no proof. I can make a blog and claim anything I want in it. There's no sources or photographs, and I can't find any support for this on notable flag websites like FOTW. Fry1989 eh? 19:42, 21 March 2012 (UTC)
