I don't know if this is the right place to bring this up at, but I'm questioning the licence. Commons had CC-BY-SA 2.0 whereas Flickr has CC-BY 2.0. I fixed Commons so that it matches Flickr, but I don't see why this would have been published under a Creative Commons licence in the first place. The document mentions "Vancouver Town Planning Commission" and "Bartholomew Associates" (Flickr additionally mentions "Harland Bartholomew"). If it is a crown copyright, it is {{PD-Canada}} because of age, and, since it doesn't seem to contain any copyright statement, this would also mean that it is {{PD-1996}} in the United States. If it is instead copyrighted by Harland Bartholomew or anyone else, it might still be {{PD-Canada}} because of its age, but it's not possible to tell and it's not clear whether it would be {{PD-1996}} or {{PD-US-URAA}}. The jpg is a page from A Plan for the City of Vancouver, British Columbia, including a General Plan of the Region which was commissioned by the City of Vancouver and authored by the Vancouver Town Planning Commission along with Harland Bartholomew. The City's archives also state that the City owns the copyright. - Renomination #1
This high resolution photo, Glamourina1.jpg, was uploaded by a first time user Musicfanz1 on November 5. At first the permission was missing and it was nominated for deletion on November 11. [1] Permission was sent to OTRS November 13. The copyright holder was shocked to find that a high resolution image (3456 by 5184) was uploaded and has requested this be changed to lower resolution (682 by 1023) version. User:Pikks (w:en:User:Pikks) brought this up on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. archived discussion
. Unfortunately the "Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 3.0 Unported license" on this hi-res image is permanent but there is no requirement that it be permanently hosted on the Commons. The image was uploaded by a first time user who made a mistake. We should encourage professional photographers to contribute to the Commons and still allow them to make a living. The copyright holder of this image will be hesitant to donate any more images and will tell other photographers of their treatment here. The donor made a timely request to have the mistake corrected so we should help out. Wikipedia/Commons has developed reputation as a place hostile to newcomers so correcting this mistake is good for the Commons. Swtpc6800 (talk) 04:54, 15 December 2011 (UTC)
Delete the high resolution version. The file has been uploaded under CC license, and it can be kept here forever, however it is up to Commons whether it will be removed or not. The photo was not intended to be in the same format it was generated by the photo camera. It was clearly a mistake because or Musicfanz1 had to resize it or to inform the copyright holder that it will be uploaded as-is. As soon as the copyright holder noticed the 5MB photo is available on wiki, kindly requested to keep the photo, but the lower resolution one. --★ Pikks ★ MsG 09:00, 15 December 2011 (UTC)

- Delete the high-res version(s). It was only uploaded a month earlier and not by the author themselves but via communications with the author, and it seems there was initial confusion in the communications. If the author's true desire is only for a low-res version to be licensed, I think it's appropriate to follow that. Different if the author themselves had uploaded it, and came back a year or two later, but this is not anywhere near a case like that. Carl Lindberg (talk) 21:21, 16 December 2011 (UTC)
- Allow deletion as copyright holder was apparently confused as to what image they were granting permission on. But to lessen confusion this request should have been done in a new page. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 03:46, 18 December 2011 (UTC)
- Re-using the same page is basically how all re-nominations are done now... it does let you see previous arguments and discussions. Carl Lindberg (talk) 03:49, 18 December 2011 (UTC)

I marked some of his image as copyvios, but I have my doubt about the rest of them too. Some could be own work but they generally lack EXIF metadata. It also looks as if some were produced at a low resolution and then enlarged, which is unlikely for own works. Note the URL www.gaza-hacker.net on one of them. Most likely, it was taken from that site without proof of permission as the site appears to use that to mark who submitted to the site. Claims own work, yet claims the author as Canadian International School of Beijing User:Zscout370 (Return fire) 07:19, 15 December 2011 (UTC)
I am the author of Canadian International School of Beijing. I don't work there anymore as per August 2011, but when I was still working there, I was part of the community management team and one of our task was to promote awareness of our school through social media and internet. Wikipedia was one of our ways to promote our school since it will help increase the search result rating for our website. This file was obtained from our image bank and I used it in our Wikipedia article in my capacity as part of the community management team at that time. It was not a violation of right because I obtained the right to publish that image from my employer which was Canadian International School of Beijing.
I don't understand why a legitimate article such as Canadian International School of Beijing always had a hard time to sustain. What do I need to do to make it clear that it's a legitimate article with everything in it was created by the rightful owner, that I did not violate any copyrights when creating it? User:luminouzity (Return fire) 16:25:15, 15 December 2011 (UTC)
- The right to publish is not enough for our purposes. If you look at http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Licensing "Wikimedia Commons accepts only free content, that is, images and other media files that can be used by anyone, anytime, for any purpose." We must be able to use this image commercially, we must be able to modify it; we also need an explicit notice from your former employer on this kind of usage. If we don't have it, we can't host it here. User:Zscout370 (Return fire) 16:51, 15 December 2011 (UTC)

This is an image of a poet who expired in 1985 and hence he would have drawn inspiration from this photograph. Not enough information to substantiate claim of PD-old-100. Looks like a screenshot from a book. Probably googlebooks, judging by the scan. What book? When was it created? Who was the author? Who was the photographer? Unless we have that info, there's no way to verify the PD claim.
