Suspected copyvio, same image from [1], which with a date of 2002, predates the Commons upload by four years. The Commons image may indeed be the original version which has since been added to the other website, however the red border is consistent with the content from that website and not consistent with the other images of this uploader. The owner of the website and the uploader may be the same person or has given permission for the use of the picture, but this has not been made explicit in the description.--KTo288 (talk) 01:04, 24 August 2008 (UTC)

this is funny and childlike photo but is it really valid reason for deletion that it is not used right now? I just ask because I have resently tried to draw attention to the huge volume of sex service advertisment on the Commons where most photos only are used in categories such as "porn actresses". I do find this photo much more harmless and probably will not create lot of noice. --Salvör Gissurardóttir (talk) 06:28, 24 August 2008 (UTC)

probable copyright violation Yann (talk) 15:42, 24 August 2008 (UTC)
- Citation : probable copyright violation (sorry if it is not here i can give my voice)
- ==> There is no copyright violation, I'm the author of the picture. I choose "upload my own work" or something like that, so why do you think there is a copyright violation.
- Besides, I'm quite surprise, on which points are you assiming that there is a copyright violation ?
- and more important : Image:Ruud-jolie.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not.
- ==> How can the community say if it is OR NOT a violation of copyright ? To my mind, only the author of the photography can say that, and that's me. So, I still don't understand.
- I just replaced the picture by a bigger one (trying to prove I own the high resolution one)

Frankly insane redirect: Why on earth would anyone type {{Loc}} and mean {{Speedydelete}}? Particularly given the Library of Congress templates {{LOC-image}} and so on. Such counter-intuitive redirects could well lead to situations where someone trying to provide a link to the Library of Congress would accidentally have all their work deleted. --Adam Cuerden (talk) 17:16, 24 August 2008 (UTC)

The previpous work Paris 2012 is copyrighted and your work is very close (you changed 12 to 20). I wanted to be sure the Wikimedia Foundation does not run into problems because of this.

Image of an award which is not in the public domain Kylu (talk) 03:42, 24 August 2008 (UTC)
- For what its worth, the award is meant to be a reproduction of the Nike of Samothrace. However, you can see it's not a precise copy, so creative choices probably went into its making. (On the other hand, if the image is kept, would somebody at the Foundation or wherever this one is kept please take a better photo than this cheesy one in a shipping crate.) --dave pape (talk) 20:42, 24 August 2008 (UTC)
- More info: http://www.aec.at/en/prix/ ... I can't find anything on the site stating that the award is copyright-free or public domain. The only rights information I can find at all, in fact, is the copyright notice on the bottom of the page (which is imo irrelevant to the picture). I'd rather Commons erred on the safe side, personally. Kylu (talk) 08:04, 25 August 2008 (UTC)

Image is labelled as PD b/c it comes from the Senator's website, but the caption on ENWP says (and the background of the image implies) that he's on Meet the Press. The strange coloration and absence of metadata supports my suspicion that it is actually a screenshot. Just b/c it's on the website doesn't mean it's a work of the federal government (and therefore in the public domain). In this case, it looks like it's from the news show rather than government, and they would then own the copyright. Chaser (talk) 19:53, 24 August 2008 (UTC)
- Has anyone tried emailing them to ask where it comes from and what its copyright status is? I would suggest doing that rather than just guessing. It does not at all look like a TV screenshot and I have a hard time imagining Biden's staff distributing a screenshot in their press kit. ([2] is the full page where the image resides.) It may be, though, a photo taken by an MSNBC employee as opposed by someone on Biden's staff and they could be simply using it with permission as opposed to the authors of it. --UserB (talk) 19:40, 25 August 2008 (UTC)
