Removed categories

[edit]

@Alex26337: Here you removed the categories. Please don't remove them without replacing them. Are the current ones fine and/or is any missing? Please also check related categories. Prototyperspective (talk) 11:10, 16 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Prototyperspective: The reason I removed them was because I noticed that some of the geological timescale's categories have a geology subcategory (e.g. Phanerozoic geology by country, Cambrian geology, Mesoarchean geology by continent, etc.), and I wondered if putting it in "Geology by era" should be in the timescale's category itself, or the timescale geology categories.

Also, now that I'm on this topic, I wonder if, for the high-class chronological units (i.e. the four eons & Precambrian), should they be in a category that represents all the timescales? Does such a category even exist? I'm sure maybe it does but I'm not sure what its name is or if it's the proper category for the job. – Alex26337 (talk) 19:29, 16 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for doing so! (and also for explaining)
Yesterday shortly after this post I created Category:Geologic eons is anything else still missing? Wikipedia has this category and subcategories for it: Category:Units of geologic time by rank so that's probably still missing here but I don't think the naming "by rank" is clear or well-chosen.
