Include categories in topic tree?

Should categories like Category:Images from the German Federal Archive, year 1990 and Category:Images from the German Federal Archive, location Alach be included in the topic tree or not? That would place Category:Images from the German Federal Archive, year 1990 in Category:1990 and Category:Images from the German Federal Archive, location Alach in Category:Alach. Only Template:BArch category header has to be altered to turn this on or off. Multichill (talk) 17:05, 4 December 2008 (UTC)

I don't see a reason, why not. Having too many categories just makes the whole thing even more complicated. Cross-referencing could still be done by CatScan. Jahreskategorien?

Nanu, wo sind denn die Jahreskategorien hin? Gestern waren sie auf der Seite noch gelistet, jetzt sind sie weg. Edits hat es seit dem 8. Dezember aber nicht mehr gegeben. Mysteriös... Asdrubal (talk) 17:12, 11 December 2008 (UTC)

Watermarks

It looks like all the images from the Bundesarchive are watermarked? Are these watermarks supposed to be removed, marked, or just ignored? I always thought that the official policy was that they should be removed so that images could be easily reused. --Ysangkok (talk) 14:00, 15 December 2008 (UTC)

German Federal Archives

The correct English name for the Archives is "German Federal Archives". This page should be renamed: Images from the German Federal Archives. This would then conform to the article on the archives at Wikipedia.--Ebrownless (talk) 09:40, 22 December 2008 (UTC)

Categories by location

Hello, I just checked the categories by location for Leipzig and I've found one called Leipziger Berufsschüler which means pupils of Leipzig. Could somebody correct this? (I've created my account here a few seconds ago.) Thanks --Catfisheye (talk) 04:11, 12 February 2009 (UTC)

You mean Category:Images from the German Federal Archive, location Leipziger Berufsschüler , this is one of the (>1000?) location categories that should be topic instead of location. Just place {{BArch-is topic}} on the category and it will be corrected. I did it this time for example [1]. --Martin H. (talk) 20:03, 12 February 2009 (UTC)

Black and White

Hello. Will anyone refuse adding one of Category:Black and white photographs subcategories such as Category:Black and white photographs of men? These categories need to be extended and I think most of these photos fit one of them.--OsamaK 10:46, 19 June 2009 (UTC)

Where did subcategories go?

Where are all the subcategories? Like Category:Images from the German Federal Archive by year? Deletion log gives no helpful information. And why are source categories "hidden"? Thanks for helping me --Magadan (talk) 14:53, 24 September 2009 (UTC)

Images from the German Federal Archive on World War I

Hello all, I created Category:World War I by archive or collection yesterday as a meta category and would find a subcategory for the Bundesarchiv very useful.
