[edit]Thanks for your attention, but I'm afraid I don't understand why this is so. Yes, I can see how some readers might prefer that the link to the en category appear at the top of the cat page rather than under the "In Wikipedia" heading in the Commons column on the left, or prefer that it link to an article in Wikipedia rather than a category there, but does some official guideline, or suggestion say the one method is correct and the other mistaken? If so, then the parent Category:Submarines of the United States is also incorrect in listing the Wikipedia language cats on the left, unless I'm missing some relevant distinction. - Sorry, my mistake! I'd thought you were trying to either categorize this, or link to the category, when actually you were adding an interwiki link instead (which I've reinstated). My fault - I don't have much to do with interwikis, and certainly not for linking to the en WP.
- Practice on Wikicommons is different from on Wikipedia (English anyway). As Commons is inherently a resource for multiple languages, but less in need of page text descriptions (rather than media) the practice here is usually to list links like this on the top of the page, where they're most obvious. There are multilingual templates like {{en|PAGENAME}} to assist with this. Of course, that doesn't preclude using Interwikis as well, as you rightly did. - Thank you. Hoping for the attention of other cat wranglers, I'll reply in your talk page. Jim.henderson (talk) 14:07, 17 November 2009 (UTC)
