George Emory Daniels was the first president of General Motors (interimistic, from September 22, until October 20, 1908), president of the Cartercar (1909-1912), and Oakland divisions of General Motors 1912-1914, founded the Daniels Motor Car Co. in Reading, Penn., in 1916, and became general manager of the Locomobile division of Durant Motors in 1922. He then worked for the Hanff-Metzger automobile advertising agency. In 1933, he was a member of the Studebaker rescue board. He is credited with the design for the very first Chevrolet, which he sketched for his friend William C. Durant.
