English: The byzantine fresco of the anastasis (Greek: the Resurrection of Christ) is located at the end of the parecclesion (side chapel) in the Chora Church in Istanbul. Christ, who had just broken down the gates of hell, is standing in the middle and pulling Adam and Eve out of their tombs. Behind Adam stand St. John the Baptist, King David and Solomon. Others are righteous kings. See Harrowing of Hell.
