User talk:Zerblatt
Hi, some nice golf and golfer pictures you've uploaded! My guess is that you took these pictures yourself, but the image description pages don't actually say so, and some zealous admin might think you've collected from a commercial site. If you could add a statement that these images are your own creation, either on your user page, or (better) by using {{GFDL-self}} instead of just {{GFDL}} when tagging your uploads, that would be very helpful. Thanks! Stan Shebs 18:13, 18 January 2006 (UTC)
- As a matter of fact, I have not taken the golf pictures myself. However, I have written to the management of some of the players and they have sent me pictures which I have been allowed to use, under GFDL. Some of the other pictures have been collected from the web site of the Norwegian Golfers Association, also with their written permission to release the pictures under GFDL. I will try to make this clear on my user page. I hope this is sufficient. Zerblatt 10:25, 19 January 2006 (UTC)
Lister over gårder i Oppland (Lists of farms in Oppland)
[edit]Articles which parallel a Norwegian Wikipeda series on Lists of farms in Oppland have been proposed for deletion; the Norwegian series is no: Kategori:Lister over gårder i Oppland. I believe that such material has both historical and genealogical value, but as always will support the position of the Wikimajority. If you have an opinion for or against deletion, I’d appreciate your commentary on en:Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Lists of farms in Oppland. You’re welcome either in favor or against deletion. Image Tagging Image:TigerW.jpg
[edit]
Thanks for uploading Image:TigerW.jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikimedia Commons (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag, then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{Cc-by-sa-2.5}} to release it under the Creative Commons or {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find all your uploads using the Gallery tool. Thank you. Can you explain the history of Image:Suzann Pettersen 1.jpg? How did we get permission for this image?--Gmaxwell 02:09, 24 March 2007 (UTC)
- I have obtained written permission from Suzann Pettersen's manager, Jan Ove Nystuen. It was he who emailed me the two high-resolution photographs of her. Zerblatt 19:03, 24 March 2007 (UTC)
- Is it possible for you to forward this permission to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org along with a link to the image on commons? Thanks, Yonatan talk 08:25, 25 March 2007 (UTC)
- Sure, no problem. Zerblatt 20:34, 25 March 2007 (UTC)
- Zerblatt, the image appears to be a Getty Images staff photograph. I don't believe that Suzann's manager would have the authority to release the image. :( --Gmaxwell 23:04, 25 March 2007 (UTC)
- The permission is somewhat vague. Zerblatt asked if the manager had some picures he could use on Wikipedia, clearly specified that the images needed to be released under the terms of the GFDL, and provided a link to the full license text. The manager replied that "I have attached 2 pictures you can use for the article." I think that this is insufficient to claim a GFDL license. Zerblatt said that the permission was most likely legally valid (Zerblatt is a student at a law school, and certainly knows more about such things than I do), but agreed to ask for a clarifying statement. Kjetil r 23:59, 25 March 2007 (UTC)
- Just to clarify: The permission he granted me per email was most likely legally valid according to Norwegian contract law, but this is obviously irrelevant if the permission was not his to grant in the first place. Zerblatt 00:39, 26 March 2007 (UTC)
Mr. Nystuen has replied to my email, stating that he will obtain permission from the copyright holder as soon as he returns from his current travel. And, by the way, he had indeed agreed to the terms of the GFDL license. Zerblatt 23:27, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
- Excellent. Kjetil r 23:50, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
I still haven't heard anything. I've even sent a reminder. Zerblatt 21:58, 13 May 2007 (UTC)

Image deletion warning | Image:Stanley_Milgram.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry. If you created this image, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. If the file is up for deletion because it has been superseded by a superior derivative of your work, consider the notion that although the file may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new file. |
