User talk:Yosemite~commonswiki
--Ramendra 17:36, 26 Jan 2005 (UTC)
- どうも。いろいろやってみます。Yosemite 12:00, 27 Jan 2005 (UTC)

[edit]Hi. A very nice photo of Kilimanjaro at the summit. I hope to get there someday myself. Can you tell me the date of the photo? The photo is now being used on the English wiki under "Current Conditions" and it would be helpful to have a photo date. Thanks. RedWolf 04:42, 8 August 2005 (UTC)

[edit]Hello, yosemite. I'm not an commons user, but I am Neverender899 on the english wikipedia. Just thought you might like to know that your MagLev picture was used in this bbc article discussing superconductors! Neverender899 (en)
- I think he meant this BBC article using this picture. What they are doing is a copyright violation and you should contact them regarding that. Yonatanh 18:07, 5 March 2007 (UTC)

BBC Reply
[edit]Hello yosemite I am the author of the BBC news page. We are using your image and would like to continue to do so if possible. At the moment there is a copyright credit to Yosemite, Wikipedia in the alt tag of the image. However, if we can continue using the image and you would like us to be more specific i.e. include your name and any other information with the photograph please let me know. I can be contacted at firstname.surname@bbc.co.uk. Many thanks Jonathan Fildes
- Thank you for your message.I send a e-mail to you.--Yosemite 13:39, 6 March 2007 (UTC)
- I should probably let you know that if you wish to, you can make them credit you in the way they normally credit photos (watermarking the picture or a small credit line under it), right now the credit can't be seen reasonably by anyone using firefox as it's in the altext. If you want to see it in internet explorer, you have to move your mouse over the picture and leave it there for a few minutes. Also, according to the licensing (at least to my understanding, and I'm not a lawyer) they need to mention that the image is released under the cc-by-sa license (or gfdl but since they're attributing you probably the first). This is of course unless you negotiate(d) something else with them. Yonatanh 19:52, 6 March 2007 (UTC)
Domo arigato Yosemite-san
[edit]Hello Yosemite. My thanks for your images on the Commons. I am writing to tell you that I have used your image Aurelia_aurita_001.jpg to produce 2 derivative images. These are listed as Radiate_Radial_Axes.JPG and Radiate_Planes.JPG. If you like, please feel free to check these images and make any changes you like. I am hoping to use my modifications of your image in English Wikipedia articles on anatomy and biology. Again, my thanks, and my apologies for not speaking Japanese. Though I cannot yet read or write hiragana or katakana (or kanji), please let me say (in romaji) otashi-wa Esseh des, to otashi-wa nihongo-wo naraitai des. Again, arigato, and please feel free to write me here or in my talk page. Esseh 06:11, 4 April 2007 (UTC)
JAXA material
[edit]I noticed you have uploaded some photo's of Kibo in the past. I was wondering if you have any idea about the copyright status and licensing that would apply to Image:Japanese_Experiment_Module_Kibo.jpg, since this image seems to be a derivative of http://jda.jaxa.jp/jda/p4_e.php?f_id=1675&mode=level&time=N&genre=2&category=2001 . If that last picture is an official JAXA image than the wikipedia image might be a copyright violation. It's not the first time that NASA forgot to credit JAXA or ESA... Maglev-MLX01-2.jpg
[edit]Hello Yosemite I am an editorial assistant at Oxford University Press. I am writing to ask whether you would be happy for us to use your Maglev-MLX01-2.jpg in a forthcoming Chemistry textbook - with appropriate acknowledement, of course. If you are in agreement, I would be very grateful if you could contact me at the following address: denny.einav@oup.com. Many thanks, Denny.
- This user has not been online here for quite a while and thus it is not likely he will read this (any time soon). He has claimed copyright to this image and has licensed his photo both under the GFDL and CC-BY-SA licenses as mentioned on the imagepage. If he does not email you, you can assume that you may use the photo. You should best credit as "User Yosemite, Wikimedia Commons", that is a unique name for him that will make this user identifiable. It might also be wise to specify that the photo is licensed as CC-BY-SA.
- FYI, the user has contributed about 120 photographs, and it appears that none of these have been deleted. The user is therefore in good standing and there are no indications that this image could be a copryight violation (I understand that copyright violations on websites like these would be something that OUP might be concerned about). TheDJ (talk) 12:46, 9 July 2008 (UTC)
- I was also able to email him trough his account on the Japanese wikipedia. [1]. There is a chance he is still using the email address that he used when he registered a couple years ago, and then he might be able to get back to you. TheDJ (talk) 12:52, 9 July 2008 (UTC)

Your account will be renamed
[edit]Hello,
The developer team at Wikimedia is making some changes to how accounts work, as part of our on-going efforts to provide new and better tools for our users like cross-wiki notifications. These changes will mean you have the same account name everywhere. This will let us give you new features that will help you edit and discuss better, and allow more flexible user permissions for tools. One of the side-effects of this is that user accounts will now have to be unique across all 900 Wikimedia wikis. See the announcement for more information.
Unfortunately, your account clashes with another account also called Yosemite. To make sure that both of you can use all Wikimedia projects in future, we have reserved the name Yosemite~commonswiki that only you will have. If you like it, you don't have to do anything. If you do not like it, you can pick out a different name.
Your account will still work as before, and you will be credited for all your edits made so far, but you will have to use the new account name when you log in.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Yours,
Keegan Peterzell
Community Liaison, Wikimedia Foundation
