Please sign your name on Talk pages by typing ~~~~. To link to an image page without embedding the image, type: [[:File:Foo.jpg]], which produces: File:Foo.jpg. You may enable gadgets (custom features) for your account. There are several tools to upload files. Have you edited Wikipedia before? This guide might be useful. Made a mistake? Do you want to have a file renamed or moved? Use the move link and wait for an authorized user to rename it. Do you want to have your recently uploaded picture removed? Tag it as {{speedy|reason here}}. For more information read the deletion guidelines.

Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]

[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

tiff bilder

Hi Wodiga

am Besten du lädst die tif Bilder als png Bilder hoch. PNG ist auch verlustfrei und ist viel besser für [Pini-gazelle-ton-I 041 2.jpg diese Art Bilder] als jpeg. Ich habe mit einem tif file von dir ein PNG Besipiel hochgeladen (siehe Bild rechts). Amada44 (talk) 06:20, 5 May 2010 (UTC)

Nein, nicht für alle. Fotos von Digitalkameras sollten als jpeg bleiben. Fotos allgemein eher als jpeg. PNGs sind halt verlustfrei und brauchen auch mehr Platz. Gut für PNGs sind Graustufenbilder (wie deine), vor allem aber Grafiken (auch farbige), Bilder mit einheitlichen Flächen und Bilder in Schwarz/Weiss. Falls du weisst, dass andere Leute die Bilder editieren werden (zB. eine aktuelle politische Karte welche sich oft ändert) ist png auch viel besser. Da jpeg nicht verlustfrei ist, geht durch jedes erneute Abspeicher viel Information verloren. LG, Amada44 (talk) 14:15, 5 May 2010 (UTC)

Stimmt nicht ganz: "PNGs sind halt verlustfrei und brauchen auch mehr Platz" Sie brauchen nur manchmal mehr Platz - zum Beispiel, wenn man Fotos als png abspeichert. Bei Grafiken mit großen Farbflächen und klaren Grenzen ist png teilweise kleiner als jpg. Von der Qualität her sind pngs immer besser. Allerdings müsste man sich diesen Qualitätsvorteil bei Fotos mit einem Vielfachen an Speicherplatzbedarf erkaufen. Deswegen verzichten wir hier bei Fotos meist auf png.
