Image deletion warning | Image:BlankMap-World-Subdivisions.png has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry. If you created this image, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. If the file is up for deletion because it has been superseded by a superior derivative of your work, consider the notion that although the file may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new file. |

- Hi. Please see this request for input. Thanks! — Jeff G. 19:14, 26 June 2007 (UTC)
Hi Wiz9999, according to your deletion request: You added the following text to the page:

Thats problematically because you provided an empty subpage, so the image is sorted to the Category:Deletion requests, but it is not listed on the log. Propably no-one will ever check the category, so the subpages entry at the log is very very important. Please follow the instruction in Delete in future, only step 3 is not required because its a request on your own upload. I saw, that you are the uploader of both files and you replaced all uses, so there is no dispute in deleting the file and i will delete it per your request - i just wanted to inform you about the incomplete deletion request. Greetings, --Martin H. (talk) 00:10, 15 January 2009 (UTC)
Tip: Categorizing images
[edit]
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.BotMultichillT 05:12, 8 September 2009 (UTC)

OK, I have nothing against this change; it's just that calling it a spelling mistake didn't make any sense to me. –Tryphon☂ 22:42, 7 October 2009 (UTC)
- I did not call it a spelling mistake, that was some anon. –Wiz9999 (talk) 23:13, 9 October 2009 (UTC)
