Image deletion
[edit]Hello... you requested the Couric_today.png-file to be deleted due to it being a screenshot of a copyright TV-programme. Is there any license I could use to prevent this from happening? I've uploaded an image to Ann Curry as well, but this seems to have a correct license. I can't seem to find that same one for the Couric-image :) Thanks! --Pneumaman 23:10, 21 July 2006 (UTC)
Freedom of panorama
[edit]Thank you for your response about Image:Henny Eman statue.jpg at Commons:Deletion requests. I notice that Commons:Derivative works indicates that the Netherlands does not have freedom of panorama for either statues or buildings. Does that mean that other images of buildings in Aruba (such as Image:Parlamento di Aruba (front).jpg, Image:Parlamento di Aruba (side).jpg, and Image:Oranjestad.jpg) or in the Netherlands (such as Image:Gasuniegebouw.jpg and Image:Mammoet office building.jpg) are infringements of the copyright of the architects (or whoever holds copyright in buildings)? —Bkell (talk) 00:26, 23 July 2006 (UTC)
- Saludos. --Jordi G 17:30, 29 July 2006 (UTC)
Twice25
[edit]Ref.: this.
Sorry, but I don't speak English. I thought it was a very simple image taken walkin' in the street and that it was legal 'cause his feature. But it's allright the same if it must be deleted. Have a good time! :) --「Twice28.0 · contributi · talk」 20:51, 8 August 2006 (UTC)
Image:Cant-stop

Image deletion
[edit]Hello... you requested the portrait used in my article on Wikipedia:Kristian Solmer Vedel to be deleted. The photographer (Ingemann Sørensen) can not be found and is presumed to be dead. The photograph has appeared (uncredited) in a number of print publications by various arts institutions. I've now used a license where I state I believe the image is in the public domain. Is this acceptable - or do Wikipedia policy mandate that such photographs must be deleted?
Gisle 23:31, 20 August 2006 (UTC)
- What is the approximate date of the photograph? William Avery 18:36, 21 August 2006 (UTC)
- It dates from 1958. The original photographer, belived to be Ingemann Sørensen, is dead and can not be reached to clearify the image's copyright status. I've tried to locate his estate/heirs, but so far without success (Sørensen is a very common name in Denmark).
- The copy I uploaded to the commons is scanned from an original positive owned by Ane Vedel (widow of Kristian Vedel). According to the Ane vedel, Kristian Vedel (the person depicted) used Ingemann Sørensen for all(?) his publicity photographs in the 1950ies. This was paid work. No forms transferring copyright can be found, but this type of paperwork was not common at the time. After receiving your notice I've discussed the copyright situation with the Vedel family (I am helping them with some new photographs of Kristian's design for the catalogue for an upcoming retrospective exhibition) and it is clear that Kristian Vedel frequently used these publicity images as if he held copyright (e.g. for press handouts, catalogues) with the knowledge and appearent consent of the photographer. It is therefor my understanding that Ingemann Sørensen in effect transfered copyright of these publicity shots to Kristian Vedel as part of their business arrangement. If so, the copyright is now held by the estate of Kristian Vedel (i.e. Ane Vedel). If that is the case, she has no objections to the photograph being on Wikipedia Commons under a suitable license (e.g. cc-sa). Is this a satisfactory resolution?

RE: Commercial use
[edit]Hi. I notice you have placed statements such as "For Wikipedia and non-profit use only. The determination over what constitutes a non-profit ogranization other than Wikipedia will be made on the author's sole discretion. Any other use is prohibited without explicit written consent by the author." on your uploaded images. Commons is only intended to host images available for free (as in freedom, including commercial) use. Please see Commons:Licensing#Acceptable_licenses. Could you please remove the conditions, or deletion of the images can be arranged. Please give it some thought and indicate your preference. William Avery 19:51, 29 September 2006 (UTC)
- I see. Give me one day to think about whether I am going to release the pictures-I'll have made the corresponding changes or will have contacted you by Monday (Pacific time) about deletion of the pictures. Regards, Brendel 01:37, 1 October 2006 (UTC)
Re: Image Tagging Image:James-George Frazer.png
[edit]Sorry for the extra work
I have tagged de licensing of the file Image:James-George Frazer.png, but I'm not sure if it is enough, since it is a draw based upon a Photo that I not have the rights (perhaps it is a derived picture), If you consider that goes against the Commons' rules don't think twice, delete it.--Locutus Borg 12:14, 17 December 2006 (UTC)
