Categories and their ways
[edit]Hi! I speak and write English, so I apologize if this is awkward.
Categories. An example: Category:John Otho Paget (only one book there so far) by leaving the space between the "pipe" and the date, it puts the category at the top, with nothing in front of it.
I have a few works in: Category:Haddon Hall Library.
Two are completed, so I put them at the very top by leaving a space between the date and the year. YYYY, the wiki will sort them, so putting just the year makes the list show in order, smallest year to greatest year.
One book had a problem with the scan. I marked that with a "*" . The scan has been fixed so, soon, I will move that in with the books that have scans available here, but are not completed yet.
Books that have scans but are not yet completed get .
Books that need scans to be uploaded yet are in the category simply and alphabetically.
By "completed": another wiki-->s:Out-door Games: Cricket and Golf. If that link is broken due to the language https://en.wikisource.org/wiki/Out-door_Games:_Cricket_and_Golf
I will try to answer any questions! Welcome, also and by the way!!--RaboKarbakian (talk) 21:44, 3 October 2022 (UTC)
- Hi, sorry if I don't understand... but, I've changed the order and move the published works categories after the main categories (paints, drawings, prints, etc) using the formula Category:artist|*anno editio 1912-11...
- In that way the published works categories will be ordered by year and after the main categories of an artist...
- I think that must reflect much better the hierarchy of the categories and make more comprehensible the category page WideAngleEyes (talk) 22:24, 3 October 2022 (UTC)
- We are doing the same thing! Yours, the wiki sorts by "*anno editio" and mine, it sorts by "(space)YYYY" The "space" being a the blank character. Blank character/space will always sort before "*anno editio".--RaboKarbakian (talk) 23:03, 3 October 2022 (UTC)
Category:Drawings by Raffaello Sanzio in the Pinacoteca di Brera (Milan) has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.
If you created this category, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it. |
In addition, I noticed that you've made a malformed deletion request. Here, Delete is not for speedy deletion, please see COM:DP. When you want to delete a page by manually using the Delete template (rather than the automatic Nominate for deletion or Nominate category for discussion tool in the Tools menu on the sidebar per COM:DR#Starting requests and COM:CFD#Starting requests), you must follow the instructions in the template, including the "Click here to show further instructions" portion (or Commons:Deletion requests/Listing a request manually policy or the "By hand" portion of COM:CFD#Starting requests, normally collapsed), otherwise you will create a lot of work for other people. — Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me 08:34, 18 October 2022 (UTC)
- Ok, sir... I'm apologize for my mistake, I'm just learning... WideAngleEyes (talk) 09:31, 18 October 2022 (UTC)
Paintings in the Birmingham Museums Trust by artist has been listed at Commons:Categories for discussion so that the community can discuss ways in which it should be changed. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry. If you created this category, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for discussion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it. If the category is up for deletion because it has been superseded, consider the notion that although the category may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new category. In all cases, please do not take the category discussion personally. It is never intended as such. Thank you! |
