Tip: Categorizing images
[edit]
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.
[[Category:Category name]]
For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:
[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]
This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.CategorizationBot (talk) 11:56, 15 March 2011 (UTC)

Morning Musume - SVG?
[edit]Hello! I was checking the images that would preferably used SVG as opposed to raster images, and your (very pretty!) image was tagged as one of them. From the style I guess this started life as a vector image - would you be able to upload that version? This has a number of advantages, including translation to other languages through a partially automated tool. Regards, Jon C (talk) 07:55, 5 May 2011 (UTC)

Morning Musume chronology image error
[edit]Hi, I noticed your image listed Maki Goto twice in the school year part. (The first one is supposed to say Rika Ishikawa, isn't it?) I don't really know how to fix it myself, and I want it to look clean, without my sloppy editing. I think you might want to fix it up with the right name, to avoid confusion. =) All the best, Unlocked Heart (talk) 21:17, 4 June 2011 (UTC)

--Visualaid (talk) 06:17, 19 June 2019 (UTC)
--Lind (talk) 17:44, 11 August 2021 (UTC)
File:MMataglanceEng.jpg requires updating
[edit]Hi Visualaid,
Thank you for your contributions to Commons. I noticed File:MMataglanceEng.jpg is out of date. Both the English and Japanese versions of this diagram haven't yet been updated to make mention of the 15th-generation Morning Musume members Rio Kitagawa, Homare Okamura, and Mei Yamazaki. Could you update it? Thanks again. 69.160.28.255 08:14, 22 June 2020 (UTC)
I've been thinking about how the graph could be improved in order to be permanently sustainable. I still haven't found a perfect solution. But a long suspension of uploading new versions might send a wrong message to H!P fans. So I decided to upload the versions which I'm not sure of. Anyway, thank you for your suggestion.
