Please link images
[edit]
Hello Uwe Gille!
Thank you for providing images to Wikimedia Commons. Please keep in mind that images uploaded to Commons should be useful to all users of Wikimedia projects. This is possible only if the images can be found by other people.
To allow others to find the images you uploaded here, the images should be in some place that can be found by navigating the category structure. This means that you should put the images into appropriate topic pages, categories, optionally galleries, or both of them (see Commons:Categories). To find good categories for your images, the CommonSense tool may help.
You can find a convenient overview of your uploaded files in this gallery.
The important point is that the images should be placed in the general structure somewhere. There are a large number of completely unsorted images on Commons right now. If you would like to help to place some of those images where they can be found, please do!
Thank you. BotMultichillT (talk) 06:22, 3 December 2008 (UTC)

Sorry...
[edit]I accidentally created a new version of your File:Pumori-fromKalaPattar2.jpg when trying to upload a derivative with buehler/steck's 2001 westface route. I don't know how to remove that version and don't want to create any more mess. If you can tell me how to sort this out, I'll certainly do. Wonderful pictures you've taken! Autopatrol given
[edit]Hello. I just wanted to let you know that I have granted autopatrol rights to your account; the reason for this is that I believe you are sufficiently trustworthy and experienced to have your contributions automatically marked as "reviewed". This has no effect on your editing, it is simply intended to make it easier for users that are monitoring Recent changes or Recent uploads to find unproductive edits amidst the productive ones like yours. In addition, the Flickr upload feature and an increased number of batch-uploads in UploadWizard, uploading of freely licensed MP3 files, overwriting files uploaded by others and an increased limit for page renames per minute are now available to you. Thank you. -- RE rillke questions? 11:04, 2 December 2011 (UTC)

Hello, regarding the liver on this image, is the structure between "9" and "10" from the original photograph or an artefact created while adding the numbers? The repeating pattern looks very regular to me. Other than that, a really nice image :-) --Rubik-wuerfel (talk) 17:36, 22 August 2013 (UTC)
- Maybe that I have removed a reflection spot, but it is really the caudal lobe of the liver. --Uwe Gille (talk) 06:52, 23 August 2013 (UTC)
- Ok, thanks for the clarification. I did not want to sound distrustful. --Rubik-wuerfel (talk) 09:48, 23 August 2013 (UTC)
Gray's Anatomy plates with help
[edit]Hi Uwe,
I am writing on behalf of my friend, which would be interested in getting more Gray's Anatomy plates of muscles, which have the muscles highlighted by red color. He would be willing to modify more Gray's Anatomy plates, but he would prefer to be instructed before on how you coloured the muscles and other know-how about the process. Will you be kind and share the process of turning Gray's Anatomy plates of muscles to the version with one highlighted muscle? What software do you use? What tools and settings do you use? Can you provide more tips and beginner mistakes to avoid?
Thank you for answering. --Wesalius (talk) 06:51, 21 November 2015 (UTC)
- I did it with Paintshop Pro, but any picture editor that enables overlays like Photshop or the freeware gimp is suitable. --Uwe Gille (talk) 07:27, 21 November 2015 (UTC)
File tagging File:Karakorum k2.jpg
[edit]This media was probably deleted.
|
Thanks for uploading File:Karakorum k2.jpg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the {{No permission since}} tag with {{subst:PP}} on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.
Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own). The file probably has been deleted. If you sent a permission, try to send it again after 14 days. Do not re-upload. When the VRT-member processes your mail, the file can be undeleted. Additionally you can request undeletion here, providing a link to the File-page on Commons where it was uploaded ([[:File:Karakorum k2.jpg]] ) and the above demanded information in your request. |

[edit]Hi Uwe, do you know the approximate magnifying factor of the detailed drawing within the box next to the feather? Thank you! — Preceding unsigned comment added by SimplyScience (talk • contribs) 12:04, 1 December 2017 (UTC)--SimplyScience (talk) 12:22, 1 December 2017 (UTC)
- No, I don't, I just drew it without thinking about magnification. --Uwe Gille (talk) 12:43, 1 December 2017 (UTC)
OK, thanks. I found an electron microscopy image that looks similar to your drawing, so I would assume the magnification is in the same range (744x): https://pixnio.com/science/microscopy-images/moderately-high-magnification-of-744x-depicted-the-strut-like-configuration-of-an-unidentified-bird-feather --SimplyScience (talk) 12:37, 4 December 2017 (UTC)

This media may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading File:Continous-Horizontal mattress suture.svg. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.
If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.) If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there. Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you. |

Request for a date on your Khumbo icefall photograph
[edit]Dear Sir: I see you are a significant contributor to Wikimedia Commons (on various topics). In 2005 you posted an image of the Khumbu Icefall with the date of 26 April 2005 associated with it. This appears to be the posting date, rather than the date of the photograph. Can you please clarify when that image was taken - at least to the year? Thank you. I will be happy make the necessary changes on that photo's page. And apologize that I cannot address you in your native language. User: 2601:196:180:DC0:74FB:E13A:8468:73F9 17:59, 24 February 2024 (UTC)
- I have been there in april 2005, but I do not remember the exact day. --Uwe Gille (talk) 11:43, 25 February 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you, User:Uwe Gille, that is satisfactory. I will make that clear on the WP Commons page so that there is no confusion between the image taken date and the date of its posting (although both in this case were in April of 2005; a great many images on Commons falsely suggest the latter as the former, including many taken before WC or WP existed).
- Thank you for your prompt response, and your many contributions to both WC and WP. Yours, 2601:196:180:DC0:8563:9038:CE15:BB9 13:51, 26 February 2024 (UTC)
