Thanks for uploading File:Carl Clauberg 2.jpg. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.
If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.) If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there. Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you. |

non-international date format in files transferred with CommonsHelper
[edit]Hi NewDataB,
from what I have seen, many of the files you have transferred from it.wikipedia using CommonsHelper do not have a date in the universal, international date format YYYY-MM-DD that allows Commons to "translate & display" this date into any local date format (usually as defaulted by the use-language here on Commons).
I do not use CommonsHelper to transfer files, but a stand-alone program c:Commons:For the Common Good.
This program needs some trial & error (at least on my side) before getting accustomed to it. Especially little intuitive is the way to change between different (language-)Wikipedia's as source: You first need to start the program (which takes quite a long time despite the small file size, then goto "Settings", change the "Local wiki"-information, then restart the program.
Once accustomed, the program works very well for automatically transcribing information (including dates, and license information), and also allows for efficient additions incl. Categories.
It might be worth a look into ...
While I am not an expert on the program, I still am more than willing to try to answer any questions you might have.
Best regards, --Archie02 (talk) 16:51, 22 January 2019 (UTC)
- @Archie02: I contribute from Tablet, it is impossible for me to use that program.--NewDataB (talk) 16:57, 22 January 2019 (UTC)

Pay attention to licensing
|
Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content: images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose.
File:Craig Melvin.png seems to be free (or it would be proposed for deletion), but it was identified as having a wrong license. Usually, it is because a public domain image is tagged with a free license, or because the stated source or other information is not sufficient to prove the selected tag is correct. Please verify that you applied the correct license tag for this file. If you believe this file has the correct license, please explain why on the file discussion page.

@Jcb: The country of origin of this photograph is Italy. It is in the public domain there because its copyright term has expired. According to Law for the Protection of Copyright and Neighbouring Rights n.633, 22 April 1941 and later revisions, images of people or of aspects, elements and facts of natural or social life, obtained with photographic process or with an analogue one, including reproductions of figurative art and film frames of film stocks (Art. 87) are protected for a period of 20 years from creation (Art. 92). This file is film frames--NewDataB (talk) 14:23, 2 June 2019 (UTC)
- @Jcb: NewDataB, just add the director as author, and {{Own}} as source. Then you can safely remove the warning as it is a stillframe from an old Italian movie. See how I've done here. --Ruthven (msg) 15:44, 2 June 2019 (UTC)
@NewDataB, it's your responsibility as uploader to make sure the information template is properly filled in, so that your uploads e.g. do not pollute Category:Images without source. I have fixed several of your uploads recently, but it's not reasonable to expect that I will keep cleaning up after you forever. Jcb (talk) 16:24, 2 June 2019 (UTC)
- @Jcb: in pd-italy the important is the date, not the author. If the author is life o no is not important. Entiende ?--NewDataB (talk) 16:32, 2 June 2019 (UTC)
- In Wikimedia Commons it's required to fill in the information template if you upload/transfer a file to Commons. This is not about the meaning of PD-Italy, this is about proper after care when you transfer a file. Jcb (talk) 20:49, 2 June 2019 (UTC)
Sorry for doing as that.

Welcome, Dear Patroller!
[edit]
Hi UltimoGrimm,
You now have the Patroller right and may call yourself a patroller! Please take a moment to read the updated Commons:Patrol to learn how Patrolling works and how we use it to fight vandalism.
As you know already, the patrolling functionality is enabled for all edits, not just for new-page creations. This enables us to keep track of, for example, edits made by anonymous users here on Commons.
We could use your help at the Counter Vandalism Unit. For example by patrolling an Anonymous-edits checklist and checking a day-part.
If you have any questions please leave a message on the CVU talkpage or ask for help on IRC in #wikimedia-commons. Jianhui67 T★C 18:37, 4 August 2019 (UTC)

Welcome, Dear Filemover!
[edit]
Hi UltimoGrimm, you're now a filemover. When moving files please respect the following advice:
- Use the CommonsDelinker link in the {{Rename}} template to order a bot to replace all ocurrences of the old title with the new one. Or, if there was no rename-request, please use the Move & Replace-tab.
- Please leave a redirect behind unless you have a valid reason not to do so. Other projects, including those using InstantCommons, might be using the file even though they don't show up in the global usage. Deleting the redirects would break their file references. Please see this section of the file rename guideline for more information.
- Please know and follow the file rename guidelines.

Important message for file movers
[edit]A community discussion has been closed where the consensus was to grant all file movers the suppressredirect
user right. This will allow file movers to not leave behind a redirect when moving files and instead automatically have the original file name deleted. Policy never requires you to suppress the redirect, suppression of redirects is entirely optional.
Possible acceptable uses of this ability:
- To move recently uploaded files with an obvious error in the file name where that error would not be a reasonable redirect. For example: moving "Sheep in a tree.jpg" to "Squirrel in a tree.jpg" when the image does in fact depict a squirrel.
- To perform file name swaps.
- When the original file name contains vandalism. (File renaming criterion #5)
Please note, this ability should be used only in certain circumstances and only if you are absolutely sure that it is not going to break the display of the file on any project. Redirects should never be suppressed if the file is in use on any project. When in doubt, leave a redirect. If you forget to suppress the redirect in case of file name vandalism or you are not fully certain if the original file name is actually vandalism, leave a redirect and tag the redirect for speedy deletion per G2.
The malicious or reckless breaking of file links via the suppressredirect
user right is considered an abuse of the file mover right and is grounds for immediate revocation of that right. This message serves as both a notice that you have this right and as an official warning. Questions regarding this right should be directed to administrators. --Majora (talk) 21:36, 7 November 2019 (UTC)
