First steps tutorial

Our first steps tour and our frequently asked questions will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy (Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content).

You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold when contributing and assume good faith when interacting with others. This is a wiki.

Getting help

More information is available at the community portal. You may ask questions at the help desk, village pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons (webchat). You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at the copyright village pump.

Goodies, tips, and tricks
  • Put Babel boxes on your user page so others know what languages you can speak and indicate your graphic abilities.
  • You can find the files you have uploaded in your Uploads.
  • Please sign your name on Talk pages by typing ~~~~.
  • To link to an image page without embedding the image, type: [[:File:Foo.jpg]], which produces: File:Foo.jpg.
  • You may enable gadgets (custom features) for your account.
  • There are several tools to upload files.
  • Have you edited Wikipedia before? This guide might be useful.
Made a mistake?
  • Do you want to have a file renamed or moved? Use the move link and wait for an authorized user to rename it.

I object to your application for deletion.

It's not extracted from Slovak Radio Symphony Orchestra, it's extracted from other YouTube videos, and there's no copyright issue.

Therefore, this work only contains orchestral music, and the uploaded document is mine.

This instrumental version is copyrighted by the Slovak Radio Symphony Orchestra. It should be reverted to the previous file in all articles. Tidjani Saleh (talk) 01:35, 16 November 2022 (UTC)

The source was not downloaded and uploaded from Slovak Radio Symphony Orchestra. The sound source is from LordDaine.

And I uploaded it by referring to Western Sahara WTM.

I did not extract and upload from Slovak Radio Symphony Orchestra, so this work has no copyright issue. This raises an objection to the request for deletion.

Hey @Benohight214. If you click on the description of such videos, it clearly says it's taken from the Slovak Radio Symphony Orchestra. The first link even mentions that the arrangements are done by Peter Breiner, who if you check the description is listed as an co-author together with the Slovak Radio Symphony Orchestra. Sadly we can only work with the original file due to copyright issues (there's another version that plays on Sahrawi television but I don't think we can use it without checking Sahrawi copyright laws -which, as you might assume, is a difficult thing to do in the famous no data country- or directly asking Frente POLISARIO/the government of the Sahrawi Republic for permission, which I could try).

Okay. I've confirmed that the sound source I extracted from YouTube is in the Slovak Radio Symphony Orchestra, and I need to check the copyright of the Sahara Arab Democratic Republic. Please check if the music sources in other countries that I uploaded have copyrights, and if it is a problem, I think it would be right to specify or delete the license. In general, I hope to keep the music file, but I think most of what I claimed is right, so I ask for your consent to delete it. --Benohight214 (talk) 07:57, 17 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I will try to check but the SADR not releasing their laws online (for what I'd say obvious reasons) will definitely not make your search for copyright stuff easier (Sahrawis don't even care about copyright tbf, but Wikipedia has strict rules on the matter).

Thank you. Please check the license and replace it with the original file if it's only a problem within the Wikimedia public, or delete it according to your general intention. Also, please include not only the copyrighted music files I uploaded but also other users' music files in the deletion list if copyrights are found.
