Pronunciation files
[edit]Hi. Thank you for your pronunciation recordings. In the future, please use Category:U.S. English pronunciation and make sure to use a proper syntax ([[ instead of {{). See fixes to your file. --Derbeth talk 05:53, 25 July 2016 (UTC)
- Oops! Thanks. Um, I copied and pasted what was shown in the Wiktionary guidelines. Maybe I misunderstood something, I'll go through when I have time and eventually correct everything I've uploaded. Thanks for letting me know. Sylvanmoon (talk) 11:12, 25 July 2016 (UTC)
- Just looked through and saw that your bot already did all of the work for me. Thank you very much and I'll be sure to do it properly from now on, and review what I learned from Wiktionary's tutorial and let them know if their information needs updating. Perhaps I just misread this whole time. I'll go find out. Sylvanmoon (talk) 14:43, 25 July 2016 (UTC)
sounds
[edit]Can you please create sound file for "r" ? En-us-r.ogg And a few others when when you get the time: a, air, er, ear, oh, or, oar, ow, your Thank you! Mikekdaniels (talk) 05:19, 22 August 2016 (UTC)
- Hello. I'm just curious why you're asking me to record words that all already have sound files? ~Sylvanmoon ☾ 12:32, 22 August 2016 (UTC)
- Yeah, some of them are repeats, sorry about that. If possible, can you just give another example for "r"? Mikekdaniels (talk) 18:04, 22 August 2016 (UTC)
- Done 'R' and 'air' have now been updated by me because they had severe skipping issues on replay. It's just that I also don't want to be stepping on anyone's toes either. For most of those the audio clips seem fine. I didn't hear any replay skipping on the others and the pronunciation and audio quality were fine. Thanks for the request. ~Sylvanmoon ☾ 19:04, 22 August 2016 (UTC)
- Sorry, I meant maybe name them something like En-us-r2.ogg. Not deleting any of the old ones. I've seen a few voice clips here or there that give a couple examples. Sorry I wasn't clear on that. Mikekdaniels (talk) 19:17, 22 August 2016 (UTC)
- Ah, okay. No problem. I'll revert the ones I replaced right away and do all of the ones you listed and upload all alternate versions. ~Sylvanmoon ☾ 19:24, 22 August 2016 (UTC)
- Nah, Don't worry about it. Just for "r" and "air" is fine. Thank you so much for doing those. Mikekdaniels (talk) 19:26, 22 August 2016 (UTC)
- Done File:En-us-air2.ogg, File:En-us-r2.ogg ~Sylvanmoon ☾ 19:31, 22 August 2016 (UTC)
- Since you did such a great job, can you go ahead and do ones for a, air, e, er, ear, eye, oh, oi, or, oar, ow, your - when you find time? Just put a 2 for all the files that already exist like you did for for air2.ogg and r2.ogg Thank you for this. Mikekdaniels (talk) 20:03, 22 August 2016 (UTC)
- Done ~Sylvanmoon ☾ 23:41, 22 August 2016 (UTC)
- Thank you. I appreciate all this. When you get time, can you do one for "ah" Also, please do the words: button, mountain, partner, grateful, worker. Like you did before, please put a 2 on the end of the file. Like ah2.ogg Mikekdaniels (talk) 01:00, 24 August 2016 (UTC)
- What is all of this specifically for? ~Sylvanmoon ☾ 01:30, 24 August 2016 (UTC)
- Just for sound files on various wikipedia pages. Mikekdaniels (talk) 01:39, 24 August 2016 (UTC)
- Done File:En-us-air2.ogg, File:En-us-r2.ogg ~Sylvanmoon ☾ 19:31, 22 August 2016 (UTC)

- Thanks. Can you also do sounds for the words "Anne" and "Am" Also, a sound for ""oar" as in how it would be said in the words " moor, poor, tour" Mikekdaniels (talk) 00:57, 2 September 2016 (UTC)
- Also, when you get time, can you do sound files for pure vowels? Please do your own version for sound files for these in this section https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/General_American#Pure_vowels . The reason I ask is because the author that did those sound files for that part is canadian and he's using canadian pronunciation. According to accent Coach Claudette Roche american vowels and canadian vowels are different. here is a link to where she says this: https://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=10151861837052908&id=124536002907 Thank you Mikekdaniels (talk) 11:50, 3 September 2016 (UTC)

- Thank you. Did you do US pronuncation with those? When you get the time, please also do one for the word "leader" Mikekdaniels (talk) 06:57, 4 September 2016 (UTC)
- I read the sample words and said the vowel sound how I would naturally say them as part of those words. ~Sylvanmoon ☾ 16:29, 4 September 2016 (UTC)
- Ok, thanks again. Mikekdaniels (talk) 04:29, 5 September 2016 (UTC)
- When you are doing sounds again, please do "leader" "ratty" and "party" Also, under pure vowels https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/General_American#Pure_vowels where the bullet point says "Cot–caught merger in transition" please read that small section and do you own sound files for Open_back_unrounded_vowel.ogg, Open_central_unrounded_vowel.ogg and Open_back_rounded_vowel.ogg Thanks.
