Copyright status: File:Rema Abdo 1984 LA.jpg
[edit]This media may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading File:Rema Abdo 1984 LA.jpg. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.
If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.) If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there. Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you. |

File:Vladas Dzindziliauskas 1933.jpg Deletion
[edit]Hi,
What was the problem with the file Vladas Dzindziliauskas 1933.jpg that was deleted by Edgars2007 request? Possibly Edgars2007 has some strictly personal problems with this file.
All the files, that I'm uploading (exept two Rema Abdo 1984 LA.jpg and Balys Giedraitis.jpg that was not made my me; and I've no claims about those two) are legal and has all leagal rights for sharing it in Lithuania. The most of my shared files goes from the personal archives of people that are on pictures. The most of those pictures were kept hidded by the family members (in many cases risking to be prosecuted by the Soviet Communist regime and it's watchdogs - KGB) during all the second Soviet occupation of Lithuania (1944-1990). Now we are free and can uncover and share our historical pictures without any risk to be prosecuted by KGB. I hope that Wikimedia has no problems about freedom of Lithuania.
Please return the file Vladas Dzindziliauskas 1933.jpg that I've spent a more than a few hours to be prapaired and made ready to be published on Wikimedia on it's proper places: Hereand here
I've hundreds of other interesting, original and very rare (restricted by the Soviet Communist Regime in Lithuania for many years), but the same legal files about the First Republic of Lithuania (1918-1940) to be shared here, but I don't want to waste my time and effords because of someones like Edgars2007 personal state of mind. I suppose this person somehow missunderstood and became angry on me, when I've tried to share the file Rūdolfs Jurciņš 1934.jpg - old friendly carricature - drawing by Lithuanian artist A. Čepas of Latvian sports celebrity from 30-ties on Latvian Wiki page about this famous Latvian pre-war basketball player.
By my opinion it was very stupid and inappropriate reaction by the colleague Edgars2007 from Latvia, because all the sports celebrities in pre-war Lithuania and also Latvia were very popular models for such graphic artists like A. Čepas and others. The degree of popularity of famous Lithuanian and Latvian pre-Soviet occupation sports stars can be indicated now by the quantity of caricature portraits of them, that were published then. Because the quality of photography in the pre-war press was comparatively law, the caricature drawings were so popular. So my sharing the file Rūdolfs Jurciņš 1934.jpg on Latvian article about the Rūdolfs Jurciņš was not of any bad intentions, but otherwise - I just wanted to illustrate how popular he was (also in Lithuania).
- You should correct the author and source information of most of your uploads. For example you describe yourself as the creator of the drawing File:Antanas Lingis 1934.jpg and you declare copyright on it. In fact you are not the creator, the creator is likely not unknown and the copyright status is unclear. Regretably you provided false author and source info with the majority of your uploads.
- To answer your question: The problem with named files is that you provided false information and that the license you selected is obviously wrong: You are not the copyright holder, the file has to be public domain for a verifiable reason. With your first upload (File:E J Harrison-Mark Twain.JPG) you did everything right, regretably thats the only good upload I found. --Martin H. (talk) 11:38, 17 May 2015 (UTC)
Thanks for answer, Martin H. I've pointed myself in all the author of my uplaods cases because the question always was - "Who is the author of the FILE?", but not "Who is the author of drawing?" or "Who is the author of photo?" I'm the author and also the owner all digital FILES that I've uploaded, because I've made all them first of all by finding in the personal archives by scanning and retouching them. Someone has to change questions in Lithuanian not to be missunderstood.
In all cases when I'm getting the pictures, documents or photography, I'm asking the owners for permissions to publish them and share. The authors of drawings and sometimes photos too, if I only know, I'm always noting (at least in two languages) in explanations about the file section. I'm also noting from what personal archives the file is scanned. If it is not enough, please correct me. What I need to note in the source case and what in the author?
The File:E J Harrison-Mark Twain.JPG was not mine.
- Copyright law grants copyright to the creator of a work. The work is a drawing, a photo, a painting, etc.. Creating a scan of the work is a creation of a derivative work (COM:DW in case of 3D objects) or a simple reproduction with no creativity involved, it will not give a new copyright and it will not change the copyright of the original work. The opinion on Commons is that creating a scan can be mentioned but will not generate authorship because it is not creative work (COM:ART & COM:SCAN). The source of a work is the source / publication that you scanned, the author is at leat the original author you can mention yourself as an adtional author if you want, but thats not important, only the original author matters --Martin H. (talk) 12:34, 17 May 2015 (UTC)
Martin H. I do understand and do respect all the copyrights of art works and photography. I do know how this is important in US and other Western states. But first of all you have to understand what was Russian Communist Regime that we've came through, and what was left after it in such Baltic states like Lithuania.
All those photographs that I'm sharing here are legal to share in Lithuania, because there are no copyright restrictions on them. The same is with drawings (that I'm sharing), which are mostly taken from the old articles from pre-war papers, or from personal archives (family members).
It was highly restricted to publish them in the occupied Lithuania for 50 years, and many original photographs were simply destroyed, burned by the family members, because of the KGB prosecution danger. You can hear Ruta Sepetys tallk about it in her video. But some survived. And the family members which were brave enough to keep them hidden all those years, are very proud of it now. They are very lucky if any of those photos goes public now in any possitive form. For example: the pictures files of Vladas Dzindziliauskas I've got to scan from his daughter. It is imposible to find out who is an author of certain photo or picture in the most cases. But for sure there is no restrictions to publish them in Lithuania, so on Wikimedia aswell, I hope.
So my question is: please name what I have to write in the source and in the author case, that my uplaods wouldn't misstreated as illegal.
- The copyright term is the authors lifetime +70 years, see Commons:Copyright_rules_by_territory#Lithuania. Its always very, very difficult to find out the authors names, but its not impossible. I cant help you with this as I dont know the sources. For the drawings you already described the sources in the description, the sports magazine. That magazine is the source of the digital copy. The author has to be researched, at least one of the other drawings is signed by the author, might be a regular contributor to that sports magazine. --Martin H. (talk) 15:06, 17 May 2015 (UTC)
File tagging File:Lietuva-Estija Kaunas 1938 06 11.JPG
[edit]This media was probably deleted.

Thanks for uploading File:Lietuva-Estija Kaunas 1938 06 11.JPG. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the {{No permission since}} tag with {{subst:PP}} on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.
Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own). The file probably has been deleted. If you sent a permission, try to send it again after 14 days. Do not re-upload. When the VRT-member processes your mail, the file can be undeleted. Additionally you can request undeletion here, providing a link to the File-page on Commons where it was uploaded ([[:File:Lietuva-Estija Kaunas 1938 06 11.JPG]] ) and the above demanded information in your request. |
